I am excited to finally share with you a Fall Home Tour of the front porch and living areas of our home. It took me awhile to finish up everything on the front porch, so that is why I didn’t have this post up on the blog a month ago. First, I want to share with you this awesome chalkboard easel I ordered online from Kirkland’s. It is the perfect size and sturdy enough to stand up against the outside elements. While shopping for mums, I finally broke down and got this adorable jack o lantern pot that I have been eying for a few years now.
I had envisioned a really nice chalkboard sign and I had planned to trace over a design from Pinterest. BUT, I ran out of time and realllly wanted to wrap up my Fall porch, so I totally free-handed this concept on my own. I decided to go with something more Halloweenie and drew some simple graphics with the common phrase, “Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat!” I love how it turned out, I just used a spare piece of chalk. I DO plan to buy a chalk pen and I want to try out a chalk sketch/template sometime in the future.
I have had a wooden bench on the porch for awhile now (it really needs to be restained and needs a new cushion), I always put a scarecrow on top of it. I got this scarecrow at Michaels YEARS ago and it has held up well… I purchased a tiny chalkboard from Michaels and wrote ‘Welcome’ and sketched some leaves below it. I had planned to spray paint the wooden frame around the chalkboard in gold, but ran out of time. Then there is an animal print pumpkin pillow from Hobby Lobs and a real pumpkin and more mums.
Here is a full view of this side of the porch. I am really, really pleased with how this all pulled together… and, I shouldn’t have to make too many changes to it for Thanksgiving.
Here is a side view of the doorway, you’ll see I purchased two urns and monogrammed them with an ‘A’ for our family name. I also have the ombre fall door mat I designed (see the DIY for it here) and a beautiful Fall wreath.
Here is the close up of the urn with the ‘A’ in gold on it. I will reuse these urns over and over throughout the seasons. I plan to put small pine trees with tiny white lights for Christmas.
For the Fall, I decided to adorn the urns with mums and a baby pumpkin, the perfect Fall combo.
I purchased this wreath off of EBay 3-4 years ago and it has held up really well. I love all of the little details on it, such as the little bee.

View of the entire front porch… Now, are you ready to come in?
In our living room, I set aside a little area to set out the kids ‘Halloween’ books… I only put them out in October, we have enough books out for the rest of the year. Rosie had to get in this photo, too, isn’t she a cutie? I love rag dolls!
We don’t have a fire place in our home, so I don’t really have a ‘mantel’ to decorate. However, I do enjoy decorating the buffet rack with some of my Halloween goodies. Unfortunately, the kids try to steal items off of here to stash in their rooms… my son keeps trying to steal the Frog Farts jar, lol.
I love this pumpkin I got from Pottery Barn on clearance a few years ago, all the pieces stick into the pumpkin. I have a Dalmation doggy one that I got that year, too, because Nathan was a fireman for Halloween.
I went simple with the kitchen table… I have a pumpkin basket with strips of burlap under it in a metal basket from Crate & Barrel. Then round place mats in gold with a round wicker coaster in the center of them.
My absolute favorite Halloween decoration is our Halloween tree that I purchased from Pottery Barn during Halloween end clearance. The children and I make a new ornament for it each year. More on that in another post. 🙂
That’s all I have to share with you today. Happy Fall!
