I was in Old Navy a couple of weeks ago to get some spring clothes for my kids and holy batman they had the back of the store loaded up with work out outfits galore! I didn’t have time to shop that day, but I knew I would be back to look for the perfect outfit for my half marathon! I went into the dressing room with at least 20 items and left with only 4… I really need new work out clothes BAD, but I knew that the Old Navy Cash would be starting the next day! So, I only loaded up on the essentials for my race, which started the same morning as Old Navy Cash, but at 7:00 a.m.!!
I get asked a lot about what GPS device I use to track my runs AND what shoes I wear… SO, I am going to talk about that a bit in this post, too.
Here is the outfit I decided upon… I have a pair of black and grey capri running pants, but I wanted something more fun… with a little pattern. I usually always wear shorts or running skirts when I do my half marathons, but I am tired of freezing while I wait an hour for the race to start. SO, I thought I would run in capris to see how it would go. 🙂 The race start was at 48 degrees and was 55 degrees when I finished 2 hours later.
I fell in love with this mint top and I really love how its a little sheer and the ruched detail in the middle of the shoulders.
I have a ton of running bra’s and I usually buy them at Target. I just wore an old black running bra under the mint tank.
I just purchased a new Garmin, because my old one wasn’t wigging out on me. I decided to go with the Garmin Forerunner 220 and it has been AWESOME. It is amazing how much technology changes in just a few years and it does so much more then my old Garmin. I really love how it syncs up to my iPhone and Brian can even find out with his iPhone where I am running at. I am also using an app to keep track of my runs. AND, the purple color matches my Brooks!
Speaking of Brooks… I will never ever run in Nike shoes again. Sorry, Nike… I had horrible discomfort after my first two half marathons with my old pair of Nike shoes and that was with special foot inserts, too! And, I don’t have feet issues normally! These Nike shoes were made for running, too! Nike may work for some, but not for me. Brooks feel completely different on my feet and I have not had ANY discomfort running in them. When I would run with my Nike shoes, I actually had to take them off after the race, my feet hurt THAT bad. Not with the Brooks… I will be a loyal customer to them for life. Now, I do still like Nike for anything but running. 🙂 The Brooks I wear are the Brooks Trance 12. They are a couple years old and I will probably need to update them soon… But, seriously, never buy a shoe for its looks… buy it for its comfort and durability. Brooks are stylish, so you win on both!
Now, I am going to show you the running jacket I purchased at Old Navy. This is super light weight and easy to rip off while running!
Here is a front and back view!
I really get excited about the pattern mixing in this outfit. The jacket has sort of a striped pattern, then there is the pop of mint from the tank and finally the geometric pattern and lighter grey of the capri leggings!
Plus, the jacket has thumb holes, so my hands can stay warm while running in cold weather!!! Isn’t this just perfect?! I recently got a new macro lens for my camera and I am amazed by how clear the detail shots are that it takes. Hoorah!

Guest Co-Host:
Angele from The European Malteser is our co-host this week. Angele is Maltese, married to a Britain and living in Germany and working in Luxembourg! She started her blog to learn how to remix items in her closet and to add more color and patterns to her everyday outfits. Angele loves to bake and decorate cakes, which she shares at her Sweet Wednesday series. She also does a fun Swap It – Wear It Series on her blog.
We will each select a Top Two every week… visit both hosts blogs to see if YOU were chosen.
My top two pick this week is Ada from Elegance and Mommyhood. Ada is a bargain shopper and found this gorgeous floral sweater for only $14. The pastels and floral print work perfectly for the spring and she has paired it with some beautiful bracelets and nude pumps.
