Did you know that June was ‘Get Outdoors Month’ and Mac & Cheese day was July 14th? What better excuse than to get outdoors this month with the kids and make mealtime your playground! I decided to plan a fun lunch for the kids outside under our pergola and we all enjoyed Back to Nature Mac & Cheese and the kids played an ‘I Spy’ mason jar game! I share the tutorial on how to make this easy game with dry Mac & Cheese noodles below!
I try to make the summer fun and exciting for my kids by planning a lot of outdoor activities when the weather is nice. One activity that my kids enjoy is eating lunch outside under our pergola. I thought it would be fun to not only eat lunch outside, but to play a game of ‘I Spy’, too! Prepping the game only took me 5 minutes, tops, and I share the instructions below. The Back to Nature Mac & Cheese didn’t take me long to prepare and was creamy, cheesy and delicious!
I let the kids select what they wanted for lunch and my daughter wanted the Made with Organic Pasta Macaroni & Cheese Dinner and my son wanted the Made with Organic Pasta Crazy Bugs Macaroni & Cheese Dinner. It’s great that Back to Nature Mac & Cheese offers a variety of noodle shapes to make lunchtime and/or dinner comforting, creative and fun! Also, how perfect are bug shaped noodles for a lunch outside?

Here’s a candid photo of the kids during lunch. Bringing lunch outside and adding in a simple activity is always a way to make a day extra special!
Making Mini ‘I Spy’ Mason Jars
Now I will share with you how to make your own ‘I Spy’ Mason Jars!
I visited my local Target store to pick up Back to Nature Made with Organic Pasta Macaroni & Cheese Dinner, Back to Nature Made with Organic Pasta Silly Sea Life Macaroni & Cheese Dinner and Back to Nature Made with Organic Pasta Crazy Bugs Macaroni & Cheese Dinner. I found them in the boxed dinner section of the store. I also picked up two glass mason jars from their dollar area. I also picked up some little trinkets to put inside the ‘I Spy’ bottles.
When I got home I set out all of the supplies on the table, so that I could get started on making the ‘I Spy’ jars. These would make great party favors, since they are inexpensive, quick to put together, fun and create great conversation!
To put the ‘I Spy’ jars together, just layer in the trinkets with some noodles. I didn’t fill the noodles all the way to the top, since you’ll want some extra room in the jar. That way everything will move around when you shake it.
To play the game, I made two cards that listed what was inside each jar with a check box. You can easily type this up and print it out on your printer at home, or you can tell the kids how many items are in the jar and ask them to write all of the items down on a piece of paper. Whoever finishes first wins!
Here are the kids in action during the game. You can see they are checking off items on the card that they’ve found in the jars.
I only made two ‘I Spy’ jars, since I was treating my kids to a special lunch, but you can make as many as you’d like! You could also use bigger jars, too.
My kids love Back to Nature Mac & Cheese! It is cheesy, creamy, delicious and a variety of fun shapes. With summer activities and playdates, this gives us a convenient and quick meal option. It is also a good source of calcium and protein and doesn’t contain any artificial flavors, preservatives or synthetic colors. It is non-GMO and made with organic pasta.
Of course, I had to share a close up of all of these fun noodle shapes. What kid wouldn’t love the variety that Back to Nature Mac & Cheese offers?
