How to Decorate a Planter Box for the Fall
My husband made me a wooden planter box earlier this summer and I have been wanting to decorate it for the fall. Believe it or not, I only spent $6 decorating this box!
I will share details on how to add vinyl wording to your pumpkins below, but you can also leave the pumpkins bare. I found these adorable white pumpkins at Walmart for $.99 each! Some stores will price small white pumpkins at high prices, so the $.99 price was a steal!
The birch candles I had purchased last fall at Hobby Lobby. The acorn candle holder is also from Hobby Lobby. I try to use battery candles on a table centerpiece, because it is a lot safer when you have young kids.
We have a beautiful limelight hydrangea bush in our backyard and by this time of the summer, the flowers are started to dry out on the bush. I simply took cuttings of the flowers and used them. They’re already dry, so I didn’t have to worry about them wilting. The pine combs I collected when I was at a park with the kids earlier in the month. You’ll also spot a couple of golden tipped acorns, which I recently purchased from Hobby Lobby.
I lined the bottom of the planter box with scrunched up paper towels and placed an extra piece of burlap on top to hide them. I always start using burlap again in the fall!
I really just adore these personalized pumpkins, especially the one that says Autumn- which is my daughters name! Now, let’s talk about how I personalized these pumpkins!
How to Personalize Pumpkins with Vinyl
First you will want to measure your pumpkin, to see how wide and high you want your text to be on the pumpkin.
I went into the Silhouette Studio and started to lay out my text. I used the font Xiomara for the text. When I went to the Cut Settings screen, I made sure that ‘Cut Edge’ was selected and ‘Vinyl’.
This is what the vinyl looks like after the Silhouette machine cuts it. I used Pro World’s FDC Ultra High Gloss Sign Vinyl in the Gold color.
Simply peel the vinyl away to reveal the text.
Cover your creation with transfer paper.
Position where you want the vinyl to go and firmly rub the vinyl onto the surface of the pumpkin.
Peel the transfer paper away and you’ll have an adorable personalized pumpkin!
