This Thanksgiving, I wanted to do something special for our cat, Rose. I have a Thanksgiving light up tree that I put up every year, but I wanted to turn it into a ‘thankful tree’ to appreciate our cat. I created some leaves for the tree that we could hang up on it every time Rose did something good. If Rose earned 5 leaves on the tree, we would fill her Temptations® Snacky Mouse with her favorite treats from MARS Pet at Walmart. If she was bad, we would take a leaf away… Rose tends to ‘sneak’ into our garage at times when I’m loading it up with the kids backpacks in the morning or unloading groceries. So, the thankful tree is to encourage good behavior and to show her that we appreciate her and are thankful for her good behavior!

I visited my local Walmart store to find some ‘prizes’ for my cat. I found the Temptations® Snacky Mouse and also purchased the Temptations® Classics Catnip Cat Treats.
How to Make Thankful Leaves
To create the thankful leaves for our tree, I used my Silhouette Cameo. (If you don’t have a Silhouette Cameo, you could find some clipart online, cut it out and use it as a stencil.) In the Silhouette store, I found a leaf charm template. I downloaded it and then sized it in Silhouette Studio. I wanted the leaves to be small, so that they didn’t look too big when hung on the tree.
Once the leaves were sized, I selected Cut and Cardstock, since I was using scrapbook paper. You’ll also want to make sure that you have your blade set to the correct number for cardstock.
This is what the leaves looked like after I printed them.
I took some twine and tied it around each leaf charm and placed them in a fall colored dish.
Setting up the Thankful Tree
I purchased this light up tree last year. I placed the tree in a glass vase with a scarf wrapped around the inside with wine corks inside to help keep the tree upright.
I kept the fall colored plate with the leaf charms on it next to the thankful tree. Each time Rose did something good, we placed a leaf charm on the thankful tree.
And, once Rose got 5 leaves on the tree, she got to enjoy treats in her Temptations® Snacky Mouse!
Rose really loves the taste of the Temptations® Classics Catnip Cat Treats.
I love my pet and I want to treat her to a happy Thanksgiving season.
