I wanted to share an easy recipe with all of you that I have been making for my family for a couple of years. The kids LOVE the German pancakes I make and everyone I have shared this recipe with has made these again and again… plus, it is SO fun to watch them bake in the oven, they literally puff up right in front of your eyes.
The ingredients
Preheat oven to 450. Cut half a stick of butter into small cubes inside a pie dish. Place in oven.
Butter will melt in 5 minutes or less, keep an eye on it because it WILL burn… Meanwhile, while the butter is busy melting, make the batter which consists of 6 eggs, 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of flour and a pinch of salt. It can be sort of lumpy after you mix it up, so you don’t need to whip out your fancy schnancy Kitchen-aid.
Quickly pour the batter into the melted butter dish. Bake for 20 minutes (or until it comes up around the edges and browns a little in the center)
It is done after it has puffed up around the edges. Take out of oven. It will unpuff a little after you take it out of the oven, don’t be alarmed.
Toppings- powdered sugar for dusting, strawberries and blueberries, and maple syrup
YUM!!! These are also good with a side of bacon.
