I can’t believe I haven’t finished this blog post up yet! Its been SO busy around here. On the 8th Day before Easter I let Nathan open the egg. Inside he found a bar of soap (of course, Lush’s Rock Star soap! I got a tiny sliver off of it for this…)
We talked about how Jesus is the King of all Kings (note the Burger King crowns) and what that means. Then, I read them the story of Jesus washing the feet of the disciples in John 13. I let the kids take turns washing each other feet, it was super cute and I was surprised Nathan would touch his sister’s feet! Since, you know, sister’s are so germy and all that 😉
On Day 7 before Easter, I read them the story of Mary pouring the perfume on Jesus’ feet from John 12. We talked about how expensive this was back then and what a big deal it was for her to do it. I got out all of my perfume bottles and let the kids pick two to spray on a little piece of paper towel to keep. Autumn enjoyed this more then Nathan. 🙂
On Day 6, Nathan opened an egg that had four quarters in it. Read the story Jesus tells of the rich young ruler from Matthew 19 or Luke 12 and then Acts 20:35 when Jesus says it is better to give than to receive. Then, I asked the kids what they would like to do with the quarters.
Read Luke 19 and talk about why people didn’t like Zacchaeus and how cool it is that Jesus not only saw and acknowledged him, but wanted to spend time with him… and how it changed the man’s life. Invite them to seek out someone in their lives and share an extra treat with them.
