Happy Mother’s Day to all of the Moms out there today. No sleeping in for this Momma, Nathan had choir at the 8:00 a.m. service and then we sent this kids off to Sunday school after church while we pursued some caffeinated drinks at Quik Trip. We then met my parents at their house and we headed out to Kimmswick, Missouri and had lunch at the fabulous (no, not The Fox) Blue Owl! But, we got to Kimmswick a little early and had time for some photos by the river and a beautiful old bridge. There really was only TWO things I wanted this Mother’s Day. Oh, ok… maybe FOUR things.
1. Beautiful photos of the kids and me
2. Beautifully behaved kids for the entire day
3. Lunch with family and something sweet for my sweet tooth (wait– should this be two things?)
4. Brian’s and the kids gift to me was accessories and plants for a Fairy Garden. I wanted time to work out in the garden and create my Fairy Garden. Did I get it done? Did I? YEP! And, its GORGEOUS! You will definitely see a post on how I created my Fairy Garden later this week!
And, this Mother’s Day was SO awesome, because I got ALL four things!
This special man made my Mother’s Day extra special. He took the kids out shopping yesterday while I had my hair done, and helped them select sweet cards and gifts for me. He also got my Mom gifts! And, he wrote the SWEETEST Facebook post to me this morning. I am truly blessed to have this man in my life. I couldn’t be more thankful.
I have so many awesome pics of the children down by the river and bridge that it will be a separate blog post. I just love when you catch such special little moments in time, so that you can look back on them later on.
Like I said, we dined at Blue Owl in Kimmswick for lunch. If you haven’t been here, it is THE place to go for home cookin’ and desserts that will have your mouth watering. I didn’t take a photo of my food, but I ordered a spinach and asparagus quiche with a poppy seed vinagarette salad and white chicken chili soup. Brian had a candied almond strawberry salad with mini muffins and gosh, I can’t remember what soup he had… They had really nice kids meal, Nathan had roast beef with mashed potatoes and Autumn had chicken tenders with curly fries. Both of them got applesauce with a cherry on top. The kids ate so good, were so well behaved for the hours we spent there and… it made this Momma so very happy so have a delicious and a meal at such with my sweethearts.
The kids selected a trio of mini hamburgers and a Mother’s Day deep dish chocolate cookie for their dessert.
I had their caramel and pecan topped Levee High Apple Pie. I was so full that half of this gigantic pie is sitting in our house waiting for me to continue where I left off eating it.
After we got home we all rested a bit… then, I headed to a couple stores to look for bouncy balls for Nathan’s birthday party this weekend. We have ALL the boys coming in his class except for one. I’ve decided to buy kickballs and paint angry birds on them MYSELF. Yes, Pinterest can be SO bad sometimes, putting these time consuming ideas in my head. I have SO much work to do on this party before Saturday. If it wasn’t Mother’s Day, I’d let it stress me out… but, no… I’m cool… I’m cool… 😉 I did buy Autumn some little Angry Bird PJ’s tonight at Target, she is going to fit right in with the Pajama/Sleepover party!
After the kickball mission, I came home and Autumn and I worked on the Fairy Garden. Ohhhh, it turned out beautifully… I really cannot wait to share photos of it with you. Autumn just loved helping me with it, that girl is my little mini me these days.
I must admit, when it was bed time for the kids tonight I was a little sad that such a wonderful Mother’s Day was over. 🙂
