I can’t believe I have been receiving Ipsy’s adorable little bubble wrapped packages in the mail for FOUR months now! An Ipsy day makes my day! 🙂
If you haven’t heard about Ipsy before, it is a mail subscription that sends you a new makeup pouch each month along with 5 products to sample. And, the kicker? It is ONLY $10 a month! It is also fun to see what others get, because not everyone gets the same products… you fill out a questionnaire and they base your products off of your answers. Sweet! If you’re interested, you can sign up under me, by clicking HERE and I’ll earn some points to by myself extra products. Thanks!
So are you ready to hear what I received in my Ipsy bag?
Sexy Hair – Soy Renewal Creme Oil
This was the product I was the MOST excited about and it turns out it wasn’t my favorite product in the bag. I really wanted to LOVE this product, because I really like the Sexy Hair product line. But, my hair was still a little frizzy and puffy after using it… and, it got worse throughout the day (which was a rainy day, not good for curly hair!). My hair is kind of a PITA, so a product has to be REALLY good to work on my locks. The pros? It smelled SO good and wasn’t heavy or sticky. It did have a shimmer to it that was still on my hands after I applied it, which I’m not sure if I liked or didn’t like… you couldn’t really see the shimmer in your hair after applying it, which I would rather not have glittery hair unless I’m going to a party. 😉 I tried applying this product while my hair was wet and before I blow dried like it suggested and I also tried applying it on my hair dry and got the same results.
I would rate it 3/5 stars.
NYC – Butter Lipstick in Little Susie Color
Ipsy let us know ahead of time that we would be receiving a NYC product in our next bag… usually the products are all a complete surprise. I was really excited to receive the NYC Butter Lipstick (I mean, the name just sounds good!), but when I saw the color they sent me I was really disappointed. It looked REALLY bright for me… but, you know what? The lipstick is a little sheer yet the color comes on nicely and the Little Susie color was perfect on me! This is a tube of lipstick that will be perfect for the Spring, the color reminds me of a mix of coral and pink. I bet I will use the entire tube up by the end of the summer!
I would rate it 5/5 stars.
Chella – Ivory Lace Highlighter
When I first received this in my bag, I was kind of like… what is this? Several of my friends that get Ipsy bags were sort of wondering the same thing. I went on Ipsy to see what others had written about the product and found out that this little stick blends beautifully and works wonders on under eye circles, or your can use it on your brow bone to lighten it. It is really creamy and the shade works great with my skin tone. This is why I LOVE Ipsy, I can try products I would never think of trying. I would really like to learn more about highlighting.
I would rate it 5/5 stars.
Dr. Brandt Skincare – Pores No More Anti-Aging Mattifying Lotion
Another product that I wanted to love… and surprisingly, this has really good reviews from other Ipsy subscribers. It has a really strong chemical/medicine type smell, which wasn’t for me… It says on the tube to use day or night and I put it on my skin in the evening after I used my Clarisonic and my skin was still feeling REALLY dry… so, I used my normal night cream over it. I also tried it over my regular day cream and it didn’t really make my skin feel matte after more then an hour. It just didn’t do it for me.
I would rate it 2/5 stars.
MARSK – Mineral Eye Shadow in Lucky Penny
This is a pretty color and the first eye shadow I have that is in a loose mineral form. It is fun to apply and the metallic color is something different. It didn’t hold up as good as some of my other eye shadows throughout the day, though. Ipsy has sent me an eye shadow the last three times, I hope to get something other then an eye shadow next month… especially since I already have the Urban Decay Naked palette.
I would rate it 3/5 stars.
The bag they sent this month has been my favorite bag so far! I really love the floral print and the blue color for the zipper. So cute!
I am really enjoying Ipsy and I know I keep saying I want to try a different subscription service each month… but, I am really wondering if I am going to be able to talk myself out of Ipsy after I’ve been seeing that pink bubble wrap package in my mailbox for 12 months!!
