It has been SO hot here in St. Louis… and, on top of it all the A/C in my car broke yesterday! I was with my parents and the kids on a fun outing and we were 40 minutes from home in St. Charles and just hot air was blowing out of the vents! So, of course my daughter started coughing, because she has asthma and silly me didn’t think to roll down the windows right away. I pulled over immediately (because, you never mess with asthma!) and we were so lucky to find a barber shop where she could sit down and they even had a water machine with free cups of water! They were so nice there and I was able to give her a couple puffs of her inhaler. When I was praying to God later that day, I realized how he must have guided me in just the right direction at the most critical time! Whew! Thankfully we were all able to cool down and figure out what to do next.
We had mostly highway driving on the way home, so I turned off the vent and we had the windows down the entire way and everyone was fine. The funny thing was that my A/C started working again 5 minutes into our drive home (I kept testing it). But, it kept shutting down and then working again the entire way home… Very annoying, but when it would work it was nice to close the windows and cool down! Anyway, my husband took it into the shop today and it was a faulty coil that was overheating. Thankfully we didn’t need to replace the entire A/C!
Because of the heat wave in St. Louis, I have been trying to dress cool… especially when I am outside! Recently, I was sent this Scala Collezione hat in coral to try out and it has been a lifesaver this week! We went shopping on Main Street in St. Charles on a hot day and even though we were inside little shops most of the time, this hat protected me from the sun when we were out in the elements!
A benefit of the Scala Collezione hat is its UPF 50+ rating which is a huge health and anti-aging bonus. Next month is my birthday month and I am going to be two years shy of forty. Protecting my face from the sun has become a top priority to me! I plan to wear this hat when I’m on long walks, at the pool or beach and especially when I’m in the backyard gardening! It is not a substitute for sunscreen, but it aids in protecting my face from the suns rays!
You can wear the brim up or down and this hat is also available is 25 amazing colors! I should have taken a photo of the inside of the hat, but it has an adjustable inner drawstring that ensures a perfect fit… especially if its windy outside or if you have children with little hands that like to pull on your hat 🙂
This hat typically retails for under $35 and is available at many retail stores, catalogs and on-line. Colors that are particularly popular include: white, black, natural, taupe, olive, periwinkle, rose, coral, lime, aqua and banana.
This hat is by Dorfman Pacific, which began in 1921 and is one of the largest, full-line, in-stock headwear companies in the world. Their company sells a comprehensive collection of women’s, men’s, teen’s and children’s year-round headwear, seasonal totes/handbags and winter accessories. Some of their brands include, but are not limited to Tommy Bahama, Woolrich, Santana by Carols Santana, Milano Hats, Indiana Jones and Panama Jack.

Guest Co-Host:
Amber from Avec Amber is our co-host this week. Amber is a 30-something professional by day and blogger by night. She started her blog in 2012 to share her personal style and her travels. She lives in Seattle, Washington, but has also traveled to eighteen of the U.S. states and to eighteen countries! She enjoys learning languages and can decently speak Mandarin Chinese and French (in addition to English). Be sure to stop by her blog to say hello!
We will each select a Top Two every week… visit both hosts blogs to see if YOU were chosen.
This week I picked Irene from The Daily Lace. What is not to love about this dress she is wearing? At first I thought it was two separate pieces! Irene styles this classic style dress with red accents and an adorable floppy hat.
