Becky at Choose Happy has been running a fun link up party called Currently. I am going to start joining Becky for her Currently link up series once a month. I thought it would be a fun way to update y’all on my life in a light way through photos and a blurb of text.
Currently…
Its my BIRTHDAY… I am 38 years young… I am over at Elegance and Mommyhood sharing a DIY/Fashion post on How to Make a Tassel Necklace. I hope you have a chance to stop by her blog today!
I’m celebrating my birthday with a Catching Fireflies Gift Card Giveaway for $43! Details are at the BOTTOM of this post.
I’m making dinner easier with Hello Fresh…
I tried the most amazing subscription service last week. It is called HelloFresh and you get to select 3 meals (out of 5) and they even have a vegetarian meal selection. You can order meals for 2 or for a family of 4. I did the meals for 2 people and it was PLENTY for all 4 of us (we have two kids ages 6 and 9), so I can’t imagine how much food comes for the family of 4!
In the photos above you’ll see that my box arrived (via UPS on ice!) and then I had THREE boxes inside the big box with my meals. All I had to do was chop up the veggies and do minimal cooking with the meat. The meat is on extra ice on the bottom of the big box. You’ll see in the third photo that I am showing you what the Sonoma Chicken Salad box had inside it. The last photo shows what the chicken salad looked like after it was prepared. I was told to cook the chicken on the stove top, but I had my husband take it out on the grill while I was busy preparing the dressing and baking the homemade croutons. YUM!
My other two meals were Ginger-Marinated Steak Wraps and Shrimp Po’ Boys. The Shrimp Po’ Boys meal was my absolute FAVE!
This subscription service is so awesome, because it packs lots of veggies and fruits into your dinners AND each meal includes a card that tells you how many calories you are eating. How easy is that?
If you want to try HelloFresh at a HUGE discount for one month (and you can cancel after that!), you can sign up by using the code AM4G43 and you’ll receive $40 off your first box. You can receive 3 meals for 2 people (the one I used that fed my family of 4) is $69 total. So, you could try this service for $29 after the coupon code!!! That is under $10 per meal! Then, you can pause your subscription anytime OR cancel it! I am going to use it maybe once a month to mix up our usual dinner scene.
My Frizzies be GONE…
Summer is upon us and so is the sticky and hot humid days. On a lot of humid days, I wear my hair up in a pony tail, sometimes even in a pony tail bun! I was excited when DevaCurl contacted me about trying out their curly hair products. The first photo shows how my hair looked without the product and the second photo shows how it looked with the product. Pretty amazing, I know! I seriously give this 5/5 stars for curly hair, especially if you let your curly hair air dry!
I’m Reading…
I finished a couple of books since my last Currently post and I am already reading another book (Girl with a Pearl Earring)! This summer has been great for reading… I usually only read while I am running on the treadmill, but lately I’ve been reading even more. These two books I just read were both GREAT reads and I’ve had them on my ‘to read’ list on Goodreads for awhile!
The Peach Keeper is a lighter read about four different people in their thirties that all grew up in Walls of Water, NC. They each have a different take on their childhood and how it makes them feel about this town. While reading this book, you’ll see friendships (and more) develop between these four characters. The book focuses on rebuilding the Blue Ridge Madam (the old Southern home of Willa’s family, which they lost when their riches ran out). The rebuilding of the Blue Ridge puts together pieces to a puzzle that goes back long ago and involves a peach tree (of course!). It is really hard to summarize this book, but it was a warm and fuzzy one and I felt good for the characters in it as they worked out their feelings about this town, each other and their futures.
The Kite Runner was OH so good and was one of the best books I have read this year. It is a pretty intense book and there were a few parts that made me cry (as in the ugly cry). This book also made me angry… I wouldn’t say this is a warm and fuzzy book at all, but one that speaks the truth and you really feel the emotions that the characters are going through in it. I hate books with unhappy endings and well, this one had a glimmer of what may be a happy ending in time. I can’t wait to see the movie after my husband finishes the book, too. I think the last book that I read that had me feeling the way this one did was The Book Thief. No comparison in the story-line, but a lot of raw emotion in both. The kite flying, cutting and running was a really interesting part of the book. I really didn’t like Baba at first, but he really grew on me after they moved to the U.S. I would highly recommend reading this book!
Ok, ready for the tidbits on the giveaway?
Catching Fireflies contacted me recently and wanted to share my bird bath fairy garden in one of their blog posts.
I was delighted and you can see the entire post HERE. I really love the 3-tier container fairy garden by Unskinny Boppy (you’ll have to go to the post to see that one!).
Catching Fireflies is gift shop where you can find uncommon, whimsical gifts for your family, friends and more!
Isn’t this felt sunflower bird house gorgeous? It would be perfect for August, the sunflower loving month! They also offer several other felt bird houses on their site.
They also sell fairy garden items, this fairy door is gorgeous and even has a door knocker! I am all about the details and this door is full of them.
AND, they have a whole area for WINE! My husband needs to get me this gold glitter wine glass for my birthday! And, it has a LID! A lid is SO important for outside wine drinking, it keeps those little fruit flies out of your sweet wine!
Be sure to stop by their site to see other items they have to offer, such as: creative gifts, unique kitchen gadgets, inspirational home decor, fun guy gifts, cute office accessories.
Catching Fireflies was also kind enough to offer a coupon code to my readers, which is CURLY. You can use this code to receive 20% off your purchase.
(Coupon code CURLY expires one month from date of this post, U.S. residents only.)
Now, enter to win a $43 gift certificate (yes, it is an odd amount, but Catching Fireflies is fun & quirky!) to Catching Fireflies:
