Have you gone to the apple orchards yet to pick some fresh, juicy and crisp apples for some fall baking? I have! Every fall I share a couple apple recipes. This year I am sharing a dessert and an apple-themed drink (12 Months of Drinks!). Today’s dessert is QUICK, easy and DELICIOUS! It also makes your house smell like a Bath and Body Works candle! For real!
The best part about this dessert? The oozy marshmallow topping! However, if you are not a fan of marshmallows, this dessert can be made without the marshmallow topping and will be just as delicious!
This recipe can be made the night before and warmed up in a microwave, so it will be perfect for any fall gatherings you are planning to attend. Or, it makes for a delicious treat after dinner.
Now, let me share with you the easy peasy directions for this dessert:
You’ll want a Betty Crocker Super Moist Yellow Cake mix, 4 cups of apples, 3/4 cup of butter melted. And, a bag of marshmallows, cinnamon and sugar (I don’t know WHY I forgot to put these in the photo!).
Melt the butter.
Slice up 4 cups of apples. One of our apples was 2 cups sliced up! We had some BIG apples! I love using two different kinds of apples, a red and a green. The two colors are so pretty together. We used Jonathan and Golden Delicious for this recipe, they were the only two kinds of apples they had at the orchard.
Dump the cake mix on top of the apples.
Pour your butter on top of the cake mix.
Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top of the butter. Bake at 350 fahrenheit for 45-50 minutes.
Take it out of the oven and sprinkle a layer of marshmallows on top. Turn the oven up to 500 and toast the marshmallows. Keep an extra close eye and check OFTEN. Once the marshmallows start to brown a little, take it out.
Let it cool a little and enjoy warm!
Here is the recipe:
