I have TWO Ipsy bags to review today, because I didn’t get a chance to review September’s bag on the blog last month… so, consider this an extra treat! Next month (November) will be TWELVE months of Ipsy for me and I am trying to decide if I want to keep Ipsy or if I want to take a year off… I LOVE Ipsy, but all of the items they are sending me are starting to pile up, because I can’t use them fast enough. So, we will see. I am pretty sure I will either:
(a) Keep Ipsy and also start doing Stitch Fix every month, OR
(b) Stop Ipsy and do Stitch Fix only.
I really love Stitch Fix and I haven’t had a Fix in over a year! Some of my absolute favorite pieces in my closet are from Stitch Fix, SO… I think I want to make it a monthly thing (even though you don’t have to do it monthly). My plan is to buy only ONE piece a month, there is no way I can afford more then that.
What is Ipsy?!
If you’ve never heard about Ipsy before, it is a mail subscription that sends you a new makeup pouch each month along with 5 products to sample. And, the kicker? It is ONLY $10 a month! It is also fun to see what others get, because not everyone gets the same products… you fill out a questionnaire and they base your products off of your answers. Now, let’s review my Ipsy bags!
September Ipsy
NAOBAY Natural & Organic – Oxygenating Moisturizing Cream
I have been using this moisturizing cream in the evenings after I wash my face with my Clarisonic. It doesn’t have a sunscreen, so I can’t use it during the day. It has a really nice citrus scent and it moisturizes my face nicely.
I would rate it 4/5 stars.
NYX Cosmetics – Ipsy Eye Shadow Trio
I thought this eye shadow trio was just OK. The blackish color was way too dark to use, unless I wanted to use it as an eye shadow smudge. I need to research black eye shadow a little online to see ways to blend it. The other two colors I have already in my Urban Decay eye shadow palettes (which I am a snob to), plus Ipsy has sent me tons of single natural shades. I don’t need anymore of these shades! Period!
I would rate it 2/5 stars.
J. Cat Beauty – Waterproof Slide on Pencil for Eyes in Bronze
I was excited to try this product, but it doesn’t show up over darker eye shadows. On lighter eye shadows it does show up, but it doesn’t glide on easily at all! I could have passed on this product.
I would rate it 2/5 stars.
Vasanti Cosmetics – Brighten Up! Exfoliating Cleanser
This product worked really well and I do like to exfoliate my face a few times a week. I gave it 4 stars, because I am not sure if I would actually go out of my way to buy it in the future… however, I did enjoy the sample.
I would rate it 4/5 stars.
Formula X – Nail Color in Ignite
I was REALLY excited to try this fall color from Formula X. I am fond of Formula X polishes and it is a higher end polish, being sold at Sephora. However, I still favor Essie over Formula X as it seems Formula X chips easier for me. I really like the color of it for the fall.
I would rate it 4/5 stars.
The bag for this month is a metallic bronze color and I love the pattern on it. Now for my latest OCTOBER bag! The October bag was one of my favorites I have received from Ipsy!
October Ipsy
AYRES – Pampas Sunrise Hand Cream
This hand cream has an adorable tube, it smells great and moisturizes my hands and doesn’t leave them greasy. Love it!
I would rate it 5/5 stars.
AURORA – Gel Effect Nail Polish in Inky Dinky
This was my FAVORITE product in the entire bag! I wouldn’t say the gel part of it helps from chips, though… BUT, the color was so perfect that it made up for the chips! I had been looking for this color for the fall and I was so excited to see it in my Ipsy bag this month! The photo above shows the color on my nails during one of my latest Target visits. 🙂
I would rate it 5/5 stars.
theBalm Cosmetics – Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick
The color is just ok, the shade goes with my complexion… but, it is really dry after you apply it and you can feel it dried on your lips. However, some long lasting lipsticks are like that and this one is one of them. It has a really nice peppermint scent when I applied it, which I liked.
I would rate it 3/5 stars.
Emite – Make Up – Professional Slant Tweezer
I have just a cheap pair of tweezers, so I was really excited to receive a professional slanted pair in pink!
I would rate it 5/5 stars.
Nourish Organic – Pure Hydrating Argan Face Serum
I was excited to receive this product, because they sent me the eye cream in the past. This is a face serum, so it isn’t a lotion or cream. It is clear and applies easily and smells a little like peaches. My face really feels great with it on, but a little goes a long way.
I would rate it 4/5 stars.
The bag this month was square instead of rectangle and in gold, which I LOVE!
