Becky at Choose Happy has been running a fun link up party called Currently. I join Becky for her Currently link up series once a month. I thought it would be a fun way to update y’all on my life in a light way through photos and blurbs of text.

Excited for a new smile…
I haven’t said anything on the blog about this… but, I have a year+ of some pretty big dental work ahead of me. When I was in 2nd grade, I fell off of my bike and chipped my two front teeth. One of them is chipped all the way to the nerve (sorry, TMI) and my parents rushed me to the dentist and they applied bonding on the teeth. I have had this same bonding on my teeth since 2nd grade and I have had to get it patched up once when the bonding chipped on one of my teeth when Nathan was 3 months old. What is bad about bonding is that it can chip over time and it also stains and whitening treatments will not work. I have had the dentist ‘paint’ over it, but it really does not last.
I had a friend that went to a specialist to get veneers in 2007 and ever since then I have loved her veneers and wanted to get them. It is costly and well I just didn’t have time for all of the appointments, because the kids were little and so needy.
Well, last month I FINALLY made the appointment and went to see this dentist! I do go to the dentist every 6 months, but my old dentist did not really do the best job and had very old equipment. He was who I had been using since I was a child and I was just comfortable going there. The new dentist was able to do more thorough x-rays (which I even got to see on the screen in front of me) and found that I had 2 cavities, which I had filled last Thursday. We also talked about orthodontics and veneers. Unfortunately, since my two front teeth are chipped, it is better to get my 4 front teeth redone instead of just the 2 damaged teeth. This will give me a more even smile. But, the 2 teeth next to my front teeth are starting to shift under and he wants to use Invisalign to straighten everything up before placing the veneers on the 4 teeth. I will also be getting Invisalign on my bottom teeth as well! The Invisalign will take a year, then we will do whitening and THEN the veneers since we want to match the veneers to my new whitened teeth!
It is going to be a long process, but I am so, so excited. I haven’t been completely honest here and I do whiten my teeth on my close up photos and Nathan has even told me my teeth are yellow… I don’t think they are yellow, but they definitely have had brighter days. I can’t wait to show before and after photos or even progress photos! I am excited that in a year I can smile and be proud of my smile. Like I said, it took me years to build myself up to going to see this dentist. I can’t even describe how excited I am! Maybe that is crazy for dental work, but I’ll be so happy to put the ‘bonded’ teeth behind me!!! Woohoo!
Exercise
I really need to get myself to Fleet Feet to get a new pair of running shoes! I seriously have almost worn a hole in my current pair by my big toe! Oops! My current pair of running shoes are Brooks and I think I am a devoted Brooks fan now. They are so comfy! My pair before Brooks was Nike (my first pair of running shoes) and I lost a toe nail after a half marathon… Yes, very TMI and… something I never care to do again. SO, Nike is forever out for me and running. FOREVER. (Sorry Nike lovers). Although, if you Google running AND toe nail loss you’ll find that it is sort of like a right of passage into the running world. Ok, ew. Let’s stop there.
I also need to figure out my spring races (especially since training will be starting soon) and which full marathon I want to run (IF I don’t talk myself out of it… which, I am trying to do!). I am currently averaging 17 miles a week with 3 runs.
As for Jillian, I am still on Level 2, but I am getting the hang of it and plan to move up to Level 3 (the last level) on January 1! I only do Jillian twice a week, so it takes me longer to move up (or I am just a weak! lol!).
Finished Reading…
After reading Me Before You and LOVING it, I decided to read After You. Sadly, this is the ONLY book I read this month. Most of my reading is done on the treadmill and since half training is over, I just didn’t get as much reading done. Such is life. I did start on a fun holiday/Christmas book called Winter Street by Elin Hilderbrand and I’ll review that next month after I finish it.
After You by JoJo Moyes – Here is my review that I wrote on Goodreads, but there are some SPOILERS in it. I really liked this book, but the first book was better IMHO. I could see a third book being written about what she does in NYC and how her long distance relationship works out… and I would read it. But, I really think she could have done all of that in this book. It was still enjoyable. I was sort of hoping Will would have faked his death and would have showed up, but no luck. 😉
Monthly Goals
In January, I am going to start working towards monthly goals instead of year-long goals! I am excited about this… especially since I think a lot changes in a year and monthly goals will be a better fit for me. I am trying to decide if I want to do three goals with a theme, such as a goal for the home, a goal for me and a spiritual goal… I am just not sure yet. I thought three goals a month would be doable. I really can’t wait to get started on this!
Well, that is all I have today. Be sure to join Becky in this link up series sometime, it is a lot of fun!
And, it is Day Seven of the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways! Be sure to enter today’s giveaway!
