This Ipsy bag was pretty darn good, although I did like last months better. The bag is just adorable this month and I think I am going to use it to store my markers in for my adult coloring book. It is the perfect size for them. I will definitely use up all of the products this month.
What is Ipsy?!
If you’ve never heard about Ipsy before, it is a mail subscription that sends you a new makeup pouch each month along with 5 products to sample. And, the kicker? It is ONLY $10 a month! It is also fun to see what others get, because not everyone gets the same products… you fill out a questionnaire and they base your products off of your answers. Now, let’s review my Ipsy bag!
January Ipsy
theBalm Cosmetics – Mr. Write (Now)
This is an eyeliner with a really nice pigment, because it showed up nicely over my eye shadow! I have had some eyeliners sent to me from Ipsy that DO NOT show up over my eye shadow and they are pretty much useless. I was glad I was sent the bronze color as I love earthy and metallic colors. This eyeliner isn’t an ‘every day ‘ color, though and I gave it only 4 stars. One plus to it is that it self sharpens. You can see a photo of me wearing this eye liner below with the cream shadow they sent.
I would rate it 5/5 stars.
Hikari Cosmetics – Cream Metallic Pigment Shadow
Ipsy has sent me A LOT of eye shadow, but wow… I really love this one! It also had ALL DAY staying power! The metallic color is really fun yet natural looking and it looks awesome with the Mr. Write bronze eyeliner they sent me this month. Most of my eye shadows are powder, so it is fun to experiment with a cream one from time to time.
I would rate it 5/5 stars.
Mitchell and Peach – English Leaf Body Cream
I thought this went on really well, but… I didn’t really care for the scent. It smelled like grass or leaves. Just not my kind of scent. Since it applies ok and leaves my skin feeling moisturized, I will use it up.
I would rate it 3/5 stars.
Beau Gachis Paris – Smudge Brush
I always enjoy getting brushes in my Ipsy bag! I used this brush to apply the cream shadow they sent me and it has also been great for smudging my eyeliner and eye shadows.
I would rate it 4/5 stars.
pur~lisse – Blue Lotis 4-in-1 Eye Adore Cream
This glides onto my eyes nicely, but… for all of the 4 things it does (anti-aging, reduces puffiness, etc.) I really haven’t noticed any results. I’ve been using it for a week.
I would rate it 2/5 stars.
And, if we look back from a YEAR ago… this is my January 2015 box and I’m sharing what I used and what I didn’t use…
Products from my January 2015 Box I’ve Kept or Tossed:
I received a Hikari product THIS month from Ipsy and didn’t realize that this old eye liner is also from the same brand. I did not use up the Hikari Eye Liner in Slate Grey… it was a neat color, but it just would NOT show up over my eye shadow. I may try to give it another go, but if it doesn’t work I am tossing it. I am glad that I am pleased with the Hikari eye shadow cream product I received this month (I actually have it on right now and gave it 5 stars)… but, I think I will pass on their eye liners!
This sample looked small when I received it, but it lasted for awhile. I actually really enjoyed the La Fresh Eco-Beauty Be Good. Good Day. Day Moisturizer. It had a really clean and pleasant smell and absorbed on my face nicely! I won’t be buying it in the future though, because it doesn’t include sunscreen which is a must for me.
I did use up the Malin+Goetz Mojito Lip Balm. I have several purses I use often and I keep a lip balm/gloss in each one. This one moisturized my lips for a good amount of time. I wouldn’t buy it again, though… my absolute favorite lip moisturizer is Vaseline Intensive Care’s Lip Balm in Rosy Lips. NOTHING beats that one for me. 🙂
I still have some of the Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo left. Sadly, this stuff does not show up on my skin AT ALL. I have saved it to use it while on vacation for a little extra glow on the skin, but I may just toss it. Why bother if it doesn’t show up? This one was definitely a thumbs down!
I really like the Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow in Treasure and still have a lot left. I just have so much eye shadow, it takes me awhile to use a shade up. I have worn it a few times each month since I’ve received it.
I would say this was NOT one of my favorite Ipsy bags of 2015!!
