I would say this Ipsy bag was so-so… I REALLY liked the Honey Moisture Mask, which was an item I selected for free with points I had earned. But, I think I only ‘really’ like about half of the items I received in my bag. But, that happens sometimes with Ipsy!
What is Ipsy?
If you’ve never heard about Ipsy before, it is a mail subscription that sends you a new makeup pouch each month along with 5 products to sample. And, the kicker? It is ONLY $10 a month! It is also fun to see what others get, because not everyone gets the same products… you fill out a questionnaire and they base your products off of your answers. If you’re interested, you can sign up under me, by clicking HERE and I’ll earn some points to buy myself extra products. Thanks!
Now, let’s review my Ipsy bag!
March Ipsy
Beau Gâchis® Paris – Eyeshadow Brush
I always love to receive brushes in my Ipsy bag, but I always seem to receive eye brushes! I am ready for some other brushes (face, blush, etc.!). I will use this brush when one of my other eye shadow brushes wears out. So, it’ll get used… just not right now. It IS a good brush, though… I did try it out. 🙂
I would rate it 3/5 stars.
Marc Anthony – Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco 3 Day Smooth Perfect Blow Dry Cream
I have an Aveda Smooth Infusion product similar to this one and I actually prefer the texture and feel of my hair with the Marc Anthony product over the Aveda one. I had high hopes for this and would have loved to have seen it straighten my curls for 3 days. Let’s be honest, unless you have it done chemically or with a flat iron, it is just not going to happen. I just can’t seem to blow dry my hair perfectly straight. Did it help soften my curls and give my hair less frizz? Yes. I wouldn’t buy this again, it just doesn’t do what it says. The photo above shows my hair with the product on it (applied when wet and blown out).
I would rate it 3/5 stars.
Vera Mona – Lotus Eyeshadow in Clover
Beautiful eyeshadow with great staying power. Ipsy has sent me a lot of eye shadow colors in the past (almost every bag!) and I would like to be sent something else. But, I don’t have this color yet and it is a really nice Spring shade, so I will definitely use it.
I would rate it 4/5 stars.
Pixi by Petra – Beauty Blush Duo in Rose Gold
I was really, really excited to see another Pixi product in my bag. Oh, do I love me some Pixi! But, I was really disappointed in this blush. It really does not show up on my cheeks, it has little pigment! I can apply it and apply it and all I see is a sparkly sheer color. I might try dusting this over my face as an all over brightener and highlighter this summer instead. It just doesn’t work as a blush for me and I don’t have dark skin. I am wearing this blush in the photo where I’m also wearing the Lotus Eyeshadow (I have a military jacket on) and you just can’t see that I’m wearing any blush!
I would rate it 3/5 stars.
NYX Cosmetics – Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick
This color is just not right with my complexion and since I don’t go night clubbing anymore, I just don’t have anywhere to wear this really, really BRIGHT (or should I say hot?) pink lippy. Also, I have Invisalign right now and the stuff was NOT staying on my lips and kept rubbing off on my Invisalign… which, I was really worried it’d stain it. I tried blotting it several times, but… eek. I may give this to my 7 year old, she’d have fun with it! lol! It is one messy, bright lipstick! (And, it doesn’t look near as bright as it really is in this photo! Trust me, it’s BRIGHT… as in NEON!) I wish they had sent me the brownish shade.
I would rate it 1/5 stars.
BONUS Item: LATHER – Honey Moisture Mask with Propolis Extract
Oh, I love this product. LOVE it. I am really into face masks lately, but sometimes I am lazy and I wish I could just skip the washing off part and just go right to bed. Well, with this mask you wash your face and put it on and let it sink in for 20 minutes. Then, you rub any of the excess into your skin and you’re done! No rinsing needed. And, OH does it smell heavenly! I would definitely buy this product again, it is a winner and leaves my skin feeling fresh and moisturized the next morning!
I would rate it 5/5 stars.
And, if we look back from a YEAR ago… this is my March 2015 box and I’m sharing what I used and what I didn’t use…
Products from my March 2015 Box I’ve Kept or Tossed:
This Ipsy bag was pretty good, I have used most of these products. The only products that I didn’t really care for were the Sexy Hair – Soy Renewal Creme Oil. This didn’t do much with my hair and it had a glittery sheen to it, which I didn’t really care for in my hair. Lets keep glittery products on the skin, not the hair. 🙂 Another product I didn’t really use was the MARSK – Mineral Eye Shadow in Lucky Penny. This shade goes well with my complexion, but it is REALLY messy to apply it! Can you imagine putting loose eye shadow on your eye lid and not getting any in your eye? Uh, yeah. I have similar powder shades that go on much easier.
The Dr. Brandt Skincare – Pores No More Anti-Aging Mattifying Lotion I didn’t care for the first two times I used it, but I have started to use it in the mornings before I work out and shower and it isn’t too bad in place of my more expensive lotion that I keep on all day after I work out. The tube is little, but has been lasting for a long time! I wouldn’t buy it again, though. Oh, and it STINKS. I don’t care for chemical smells in my products! Yuck!
My two favorite products in the bag were the NYC – Butter Lipstick in Little Susie Color. This lipstick is a Spring/Summer shade and I’ll be pulling it out again soon! It is sheer yet bright… kind of reminds me of a lip gloss/lipstick combined.
The Chella – Ivory Lace Highlighter is fun to put on my eye circles, it helps to brighten them and blends well! This stick has gone a long way and is lasting a long time!
