It’s that time of year… the time when you open your windows and let in all of that fresh air and light into your home. However, sometimes when you open the curtains and blinds you see a lot of cobwebs, dirt and grime that makes you want to leave them closed. Well, today I will be sharing with you a Window Cleaning Basket Idea AND how to QUICKLY clean those dirty windows in your home! And, sometimes it helps a lot if your home just smells clean, so I’ll be sharing a product that I love that will get your home smelling fresh and clean in no time! Are you ready to Spring Into Clean?
Shopping for Spring Cleaning Products
First, you’ll need to go shopping for some Spring cleaning products. I headed over to my favorite Target store and looked in the Household Cleaners aisle and picked up a bottle of Lysol Disinfectant Spray and All Purpose Cleaner.
Next, I stopped in the Air Fresheners aisle to look at the Air Wick products. I picked up the Air Wick® Plug In Scented Oil Warmer and ‘The First Day of Spring’ scent.
I also picked up some other products to complete my basket, such as Lysol All Purpose Cleaner, a cleaning tub, paper towels, dish towels and a duster!
And, right now at Target you can Buy 3, Get 1 Free on Lysol Products! Offer is valid 3/27 – 5/14/16!
And, if you use Target Cartwheel, you can save 10% off all Lysol Cleaning Products (Running 3/27-5/14) and 5% off all Air Wick Products (Running 3/27-5/14)
Creating a Window Cleaning Basket for Family and/or Friends
When I got home, I started putting together the basket. I put some tissue in the bottom of the tub to bring the products out more, so you could see what they looked like. You’ll see I matched the dish towels to the color of the products in the tub and even the color of the duster matches! This was such an easy gift basket to put together and literally took me minutes at home!
How to Quickly Clean Your Windows for the Spring
Cleaning the windows is one of those chores that I just want to put off… until I have guests over and I open them and the bright light shows every particle of dirt! I am going to share with you how to clean the windows quickly.
Take a duster and dust in-between each blind. I know some people that take their blinds off the window and dump them in the tub… that is just a HUGE mess and if you keep up with the blinds with a duster, you’ll never need to do that. Just be sure to turn on some music, otherwise you will get bored quickly. 😉
Who says you need several different bottles of cleaning supplies for the windows? This Lysol All Purpose Cleaner is your friend AND it smells good!
Spray down the windows inside (and outside if you have time) and wipe down with your paper towels or dish towels.
Clean the top frames of the windows. Look at all of this dirt build up! The key is to clean from top to bottom!
Now, let’s clean the grossest part of the entire window… the bottom track by the screen! Lift up your window and you’ll see all kinds of dead bugs, actual DIRT and more… If you are faithful about cleaning your window, maybe it won’t look as bad as these photos… I hope not. But, if it does look as bad as this… I have a tip for you!! Spray the bottom ledge with the Lysol All Purpose Cleaner, fill your cleaning bucket up with hot water and dip a sponge brush in the water. Use the sponge brush to get in the nooks and crannies and move the dirt into a pile so that you can pick it up with a paper towel and throw it away!
It is SO easy and look at how clean the bottom of my window is now! It was actually kind of fun to get in there and clean all that dirt and grime away!
The last step is cleaning the open/close stick with some Lysol disinfecting spray. You can imagine how many germs are on this stick with the number of people in the house that touch it!
Now the windows are clean!
When my house ‘smells’ clean, it makes me feel like it really IS clean! That is why I love Air Wick products! I plugged in this Air Wick® Plug In Scented Oil Warmer with the The First Day of Spring’ scent and it really made my home smell clean and fresh!
Here is a recap on the products I used to clean the windows. I purchased Lysol Disinfectant Spray and Lysol All Purpose Cleaner. Both of these products kill 99.9% of viruses and bacteria! You can trust Lysol for all your cleaning needs!
For the Air Wick products, I picked up the Air Wick® Plug In Scented Oil Warmer and ‘The First Day of Spring’ scent. There is a large variety of scents to choose from, I really had a hard time selecting just one. You can control the fragrance levels and it contains natural SO. It will last 45 days on average.
There is also an Air Wick® Life Scents™ Room Mist, which is the first fast acting instant spray with constantly changing fragrance, which I want to try next!
Next time you are looking for a creative gift for a new home owner, newly wed or maybe even a friend that you know likes to clean… consider this Spring Window Cleaning Basket!
