So, here are my June Goals!
1. Eat Better for Marathon Training
I have been reading a great book called Marathon: The Ultimate Training guide by Hal Higdon. This guy is older than dirt, but he knows his stuff about marathons. I really eat horrible, except our dinners are pretty decent and I do whip up a fruit-filled smoothie for myself everyday. However, I want to cut out the sugary sweets and a lot of the other junk I eat. I’ve been really bad. I figured since I start training for the big ole Chicago marathon soon, that it would be a perfect time to start eating better. Hal Higdon talks about what to eat while training for a marathon and I’m going to start tracking my calories and percentage of carbohydrates that I eat (the good ones!) each day in an app called Fat Secret. Last time I tracked calories, I used Spark People, but Brian says Fat Secret is a lot better. I’m also going to try to make better choices about what I drink, too.
2. Get a Massage
We are going on vacation in late June and there is a spa there that looks REALLY nice (just look at the above photo!). I haven’t gotten a massage in awhile and I’m going to see if I can schedule one in the early morning or late evening, so that it doesn’t mess up any other plans we have during vacation. I am sure Brian and the kids can find something to do for an hour while I get some time to relax.
3. Select Vacation Outfits for the Kids and Me
My kids wear uniforms to school, so they don’t have a lot of regular clothes. Plus, both kids have been growing like weeds lately. I want to start planning out the outfits for our 5 day vacation and I’d like for the kids and me to match a little each day… by matching, I’m thinking similar colors. I also need to make sure we all have swimsuits that fit. I have two swimsuits I bought a couple of years ago and I would like to get a couple news ones… but, I’m not sure if I’ll have time. Plus, I HATE swimsuit shopping… not sure why I didn’t appreciate my 20 year old body while I had it! As for Brian… he’s on his own 🙂 I am sure he’ll pack his Atari shirt!
I am also thinking about taking my good camera on vacation and trying to get a few family shots… so, Brian MAY need to coordinate with us on that. I’m tempted to try to find a photographer, but our trip is REALLY soon and I’m not sure if I want the extra stress and cost of finding one.
I got this done! There was A LOT going on in May as we wrapped up school, so it was a challenge… but, I stuck to it and got them cleaned out. Our closets are in pretty good shape, because I usually clean them out and organize them 2-4 times a year. It also helped me to see what clothes the kids need for the summer. It is also nice that I have a lot of extra space in the closet in our master bedroom, I bagged up a lot of clothes that Brian and I hadn’t worn in over a year. I am sending some of my clothes to thredUP for the first time, I hope I get a little money back on them!
2. Plant Flowers and Decorate Porch and Patio.
Done! I got the front porch spruced up with fresh annuals and I worked even harder on the back patio, because I had to order new patio furniture and a pergola. I’ve decided I want to spruce up my front porch even more and I joined the Curb Appeal Blog Hop and over the next 5 weeks I’ll be sharing projects that will make my porch look even better!
Here are some of the blog posts for my front porch and back patio area:

3. Order Spring Cover (and maybe some other goodies) for Erin Condren Planner and Be More Creative with It!
I had so much fun going on the Erin Condren website and selecting a new spring cover and other goodies that will make it easier and more fun to get creative with my planner. I have been writing in pencil in fear to ‘mess up’, etc. in my planner for the last year. I’m ready to get a little more creative and all of these products will help me. The products were also not too pricey, which surprised me… she also always includes a couple of freebies in with your package, which is nice.
Are you doing monthly goals? What are they? I’d love to hear about them in the comments!
