School starts in a couple of weeks for my kids and I know that they’ll need a quiet area in their room for reading. I want to set my kids up for success, just like the athletes in the 2016 Summer Olympics! Last year I worked on decorating my daughters room and I added a reading nook area. I am going to share with you how you can easily set up a reading nook in your child’s room, too! You just need a few items to throw your reading nook together quickly AND there is a way to add some free Scholastic books!
One of the essentials for a reading area is BOOKS! HERSHEY’S, Smucker’s, Coca-Cola and Kellogg’s have all teamed up with Scholastic Books to give Walmart Shoppers the opportunity to earn up to 90 books when they purchase participating products! Why not participate in the gift of reading by purchasing your favorite products for back to school while earning free books.
As athletes around the United States are gearing up to compete in Rio de Janeiro at the 2016 Olympic games, kids here are getting ready to go back to school. That’s why the Team USA sponsors Coca-Cola, Kellogg’s, HERSHEY’S, and J.M. Smucker have teamed up with Scholastic to create the Walmart exclusive “Start School Like a Champion” program. This year, they’ll make sure your champs start the year like one by providing a free Scholastic book for every purchase of select products at Walmart.
For every purchase at Walmart of the participating products you already know and love, you will be able to claim one Scholastic book. Talk about going for the gold! This limited- time offer will run from June 29th to September 30th, and anyone can claim up to 90 books!
How to Earn a Free Scholastic book by purchasing any of the over 100 participating Coca-Cola, HERSHEY’S, Kellogg’s, or J.M. Smucker’s product at Walmart

How to Create a Reading Nook
First, you will want to plan out an area in the room that would make a perfect spot for a reading nook. There was an open space in her room right in front of her window and I knew it’d be a wonderful spot with all of the natural light pouring through the window.
You’ll need a bookcase in which to store all of the books. I purchased this wall bookshelf that is big enough to hold all of her new and favorite books. It is also tucked away under her window and doesn’t take up a lot of extra space.

Next, you need a nice relaxing chair to sit in while you read your books. This mini recliner is the perfect size for my daughter and she just loves to sit and read in it.
I also added a side table, for my daughter to set several books on so that they are within reach of her while she’s sitting on her recliner.
And, sometimes a little snack and drink are nice to have while you read!
