It is always nice to have an easy recipe on hand during the fall months when you have fall potlucks to attend, Halloween parties or even a treat to feed the kids during a movie night. One recipe that makes me think of the fall is marshmallow popcorn balls. This recipe may seem daunting, but it can be prepared easily, in 20 minutes or less. Another added bonus is that it leaves your house smelling SO good! After eating a popcorn ball, you will want something to wash it down with. I went with Fanta® in Orange and Grape flavors, especially since orange and purple make me think of Halloween colors.
These popcorn balls are the best when they are still a little warm, although they will keep for several days after you make them.
I always make sure I keep my fridge stocked with Fanta sodas, they are the perfect companion to add a sweet taste after eating the popcorn balls.
You can serve the Fanta in the can, or even offer your guests clear cups to pour the Fanta into with ice. Another idea is to add some fun Halloween straws to the drink.
Easy Marshmallow Popcorn Balls
Now I’m going to let you know how to make your very own Halloween marshmallow popcorn balls.
First, I stopped by my local Family Dollar to get all of the supplies, including Fanta Orange and Grape 12 oz. cans. You will also want to look for the one-stop Fanta Halloween display at Family Dollar. The Halloween packaging is designed by “Noma Bar”.
You can save $1 when you buy (1) Fanta 12-pack 12oz cans AND (1) Red Baron pizza 12oz or larger, with digital Smartcoupon at Family Dollar (10/24/16 – 10/31/16).
I also purchased microwave popcorn, a BIG bag of marshmallows, 1/2 stick of butter, cupcake liners, straws, sprinkles and black ribbon (not pictured).
Melt half a stick of butter in a sauce pan. Add your entire bag of marshmallows little by little to the pan.
Continue to stir until the marshmallows have melted. In a large bowl, pour the marshmallow mixture over your popcorn and stir.
Let the popcorn/marshamallow mixture cool off for 5-6 minutes. Then, spray your hands with cooking spray (trust me, otherwise it’ll stick to you) and start forming the popcorn mixture into balls. Add some Halloween sprinkles to some of the popcorn balls and let the bowl catch the excess sprinkles.
I had a lot of fun layering two plates with sprinkled popcorn balls on top and plain popcorn balls on the bottom. You can even add straws to the popcorn balls, but make sure you do this when you are forming the balls!
Fanta comes in 8 FUN flavors – Orange, Grape, Strawberry, Pineapple, Grapefruit, Apple, Peach, Cherry and is a 100% natural soft drink inspired by real fruit flavors.
