Today I’m excited to share a new book with all of you called Change Your Home, Change Your Life™ with Color by Moll Anderson. This book helps you find YOUR color, which positively impacts your surroundings, mood, behavior and emotions! I have been decorating my home in neutrals and metallics, because these are colors that fit me and my family. This book will help you understand why you love and dislike certain colors and how to accept certain colors that could help renew, revamp and revitalize your home and life!
Change Your Home, Change Your Life™ with Color will be available in Target stores when it officially publishes on March 14. 2017
In the beginning of this book, Moll Anderson will ask you, “What is your color story?” There are pages in the book with questions and answers to help you understand why you love and hate certain colors, what colors your parents first introduced you to and why you may not still love a color that was your favorite during your childhood. Moll Anderson helps you understand the answers to these questions, so you can realize how color can transform your home and life.
We dream in color and color can speak louder than words. Color can easily brighten your home, transform a room, your mood, your family and even your well-being. Just as The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up changed the way we think about the link between organization and joy, Moll introduces a whole new way of thinking about the link between color and mood.
“I became interested in color when I discovered that it was not only a reflection of my mood, but my state of being. I looked around and saw I was living in black and white, and I realized I was hiding. In this book I share the transformational elements of my own journey with color to help you transform your personal color story.” – Moll Anderson
Moll’s book, Change Your Home, Change Your Life™ with Color is filled with page after page of vibrant and colorful photographs to help inspire you. There are thirteen colors featured in individual chapters and each includes simple color solutions, “Pop of Color” additions (ways to add pops of color to change the mood of your space, your wardrobe, you life), a colorful cocktail, swatches, colorful trivia and Moll’s personal color lessons and stories from her designs and life.
When flipping through Moll’s new book, I was excited to see that her color chapters included Motivating Metallics and a Nurturing Neutrals. When I was a child, my mom watched kids in our home and therefore she didn’t spend a lot of money on decorating our home. I remember forest green couches, burnt orange curtains and really just a lot of color that didn’t compliment each other.
When I was old enough to decorate my room, I went to the store and purchased the most hideous neon pink color and covered my walls in it. I also remember having black sheets on my bed. I loved this vibrant color then, but there is no way I’d paint my house hot pink now! I still love pink and I remember after my daughter was born, she had so many pink clothes that I did a separate load of pink laundry every week. I’ve found that nowadays I enjoy softer hues of pink, such as blush.
If you were to ask my daughter what my favorite color is, she would say gold! When I got married I had a choice of either platinum or gold for my ring and I went with platinum. But, nowadays I rarely wear silver jewelry with my wedding bands… I’m all about the gold! I would have to agree with my daughter and if I had to pick MY color, it would be gold. I’m all over Mall’s chapter ‘Motivating Metallics’. I also really enjoy neutrals, so her chapter Nurturing Neutrals spoke words to me, too. I enjoy nature and gardening, so I do like to bring in natural elements into my home as often as I can and I’d say delicate greens are a color that I include in my home.
Orange is a color I seem to not care for much… it may because I had to stare at those ugly burnt orange curtains every day in my childhood! 😉
