The summer months are always portrayed as lazy months, but most moms will agree that they are actually busier months for us. With the kids home from school, vacation planning and prep, outdoor activities and parties… well, it can be quite overwhelmingly BUSY. That is why Viva Paper Towels and Clorox Clean-Up Spray make the perfect Clean Squad for all your summer cleaning. Today I am going to share a Summer Cleaning Schedule that Works for Busy Moms.
During the summer, I down play my summer cleaning list. I just don’t have time to do it all. I also give out specific chores to the kids, so that they can help me out! It is good responsibility for them and it helps save me some time.
I’m going to share with you what my Summer Cleaning List looks like and why it works for me:
During the summer, I’m so busy that I don’t want to be cleaning constantly. I let the house be a little more lived in, but that’s ok! At least I am spending quality time with my kids and not worrying about a spotless house.
I break my cleaning up into two weeks and I rotate these so they are done twice each month. I have the kitchen, bathrooms, etc. on this list and this is when I do a deep clean of the entire room. In-between these weeks, I may do a lighter clean if needed, but only if I have a few free minutes. Obviously, the sink or toilet may need a quick clean up at times. Or, I will usually wipe down the kitchen quickly after cooking everyday.
I also assign one cleaning duty to each kid every week. I have two kids, so that is two bonus cleans every week!
My daughter really likes to help wipe down the table. This is her ‘specialty’ when it comes to cleaning. Ha! So, I have her clean off the patio table (as you’ll see in the photos above), the glass storm door or patio doors, countertops, the kitchen table, etc. She’s a pro at this and I don’t have to give her any help… she’s very proficient!
And, here is a before and after photo. Yes, the before photo is just YUCK… I won’t even mention what those white spots are on the table. And, in the after photo you can just see the table shining! So clean! Viva and Clorox are such great cleaning products! She even asked to set some fresh flowers out on the table. My girl knows how glam up a table!
My son is also a great helper! He’s great at cleaning the toilet… yes, he actually does that! He’s also good at cleaning his hamster cage and vacuuming up afterwards. Kids can be such great helpers! (And, it gives them something to do when they’re ‘bored’.)
Now, when the kids go back to school I will start back to my normal cleaning schedule. And, in the spring I normally try to do a deeper clean on the house.
