Stitch Fix Reviews
As most of you know, I love to order Stitch Fix boxes every so often. Stitch Fix gave me some major love recently by posting one of my outfits from my latest box on their Stitch Fix Reviews site (see post HERE) and on their Stitch Fix Reviews Pin Board. You can see the pin HERE. I’d love for you to give it some love and repin it! Thanks so much! I just ordered another Stitch Fix box for late September. I can’t wait to see what they send me and I’ll be sharing it on the blog.
Reading
This month I read two books again. I am on a roll!
This book was the perfect summer read. It is about Emma, who grows up in a small town working for her parents in a book store. Her parents hire a boy named Sam, who she works with and grows close with. However, Emma has always been interested in Jesse, who is on the swim team at school. When Emma lands up marrying her high school sweetheart, her and Jesse move to California to purse travel and dreams that would never happen in her little town. Unfortunately, Jesse goes missing when he takes a helicopter over the Pacific ocean on their anniversary. Emma is heartbroken and not sure how to go on. She lands up moving back to her hometown, running the bookstore and befriending her sister who she had a rough relationship with as a child. She bumps into Sam at a music store and realizes she always held a flame for him. Emma and Sam fall in love and Emma writes one last love note to Jesse, explaining why she is moving on… however, Jesse is found alive, years later… and, Emma needs to decide if she’s going to be with Jesse or Sam. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and was happy with who Emma landed up with at the end.
It’s Always the Husband by Michele Campbell
This book is about Aubrey, Kate and Jenny, 3 college roommates. These girls all come from different backgrounds with extremely different personalities, yet they call each other best friends. Kate is the rich and spoiled girl, Aubrey loses her poverty stricken mom in the book and is at the college on a scholarship and Jenny is from the college town and is the most sensible of the three, yet she’s an overachiever and self righteous. An accident happens on the campus that involves Kate and the other two girls must keep it under cover for the rest of their lives. Although this books claims these girls are best friends, they really are anything but that. As they mature into adult hood and Kate moves back to the college town, they fall apart even more and one of them is murdered… or did she jump on her own free will? I gave this book only 3 stars, because I really couldn’t like any of the hollow and fake characters, but I was surprised at how the book ended.
Birthday Recap
Well, my big birthday bash has come and gone!! It was great to get together with friends and family and I had so much fun. You can see some more photos from the party HERE. The cupcake tower turned out perfect. I had my monogram on some of the cupcakes in gold! We had three different flavors for the standard cupcakes and then the top jumbo cupcake was in my favorite cupcake flavor and filling. Yum!
Here is a detail shot of the cupcakes. Sadly, they didn’t last long!
Summer Bucket List
Earlier this summer, I made an entire Summer Bucket List. I did really good on getting some things done on it, yet I probably only crossed off half to the items. But, we did a lot! I updated the original post and crossed off what I got done, if you want to check it out HERE.
I won’t be doing a Fall Bucket List, because honestly the fall is busy enough. We have so many school and extra curricular activities these days, that our evenings and weekends are pretty tied up with them. I guess that is the life of a mom with a kid in elementary school and preteen in middle school. I remember when they were babies and in preschool, we had so many weekends free to do what we wanted. Ahwell!! My goal is to find one empty weekend to make it to the pumpkin patch this fall. We haven’t gone in two years!
Blog ReDesign
My blog redesign is ALMOST complete! It was a lot of work! I will be moving over to WordPress, too! I would love to share a sneak peak photo of the new blog design, but I am going to make y’all wait. Sorry!!
New Lens for Camera
My husband surprised me with this awesome new lens for my camera! Another reason why milestone birthdays are so grand! Ha! The current lens I was using was one that we had gotten in a hurry, because I had accidently broken the lens on my first Canon Rebel. It was one of the least expensive lenses in the store, a Canon 18-135 mm. It did the job, but I really needed something better. I’ve learned to be a LOT more careful with my lenses, so that I don’t break one again!
The new lens that my husband got me is a Sigma 18-35 mm F1.8 DC. I haven’t gotten to use it a whole lot yet and I need to read the book it came with, but it is supposed to be wonderful with low light, video, portraits, still life, etc. I’ve been reading a lot of reviews and some use it over their 50 mm lens even and that it is like having 3 primes in one. I am excited to learn more about it through trial and error! Ha! It is an extremely heavy lens and it comes with a lens hood, so I’ll be experimenting with that, too.
NOW… the rest of this post is about a couple of products I’m ‘Currently’ trying… So, read on if you love product reviews (like I do!!):
DevaCurl
DevaCurl is always great about sending me their new products and recently they sent me their Deep Sea Repair and Melt Into Moisture products. Of the two, I really love the Melt Into Moisture… it is a deep moisturizer that I leave on my hair in the shower for 3 minutes and WOW, my hair feels like its brand new afterwards! So soft, no tangles… just perfect! The Deep Sea Repair works great, too… but, you need to leave it on for much longer- 15-20 minutes. I received both of these products through Influenster for free, to give my honest review.
SoCozy
SoCozy sent me another box of goodies recently! These are the only products I use on my kids hair and we just love them! In this box I received:
Cinch 2 in1 Shampoo + Body Wash
Cinch Detangler + Leave-In Conditioner
Behave Styling Cream
Lice Scaring Spray (perfect for when there is a lice scare at school!)
SoCozy would love to see your child’s best back to school hair style, be sure to tag #SoCozyKid and @SoCozy on Instagram.
I also got some other fun items in the box, such as a Yoobi Jumbo Highlighter! It really is jumbo sized! For every purchase you make with Yoobi, they donate to a classroom in need.
There was also a Dear Big Me Wall Print by the LB Brand, Invisibobble Traceless Hair Rings (gone are headaches and tugging that come with tying hair up) and a special treat for ME (moms deserve treats, too!), a Dr. Dana Lips + Tips, which is a double-ended lip gloss and cuticle treatment for easy, every day, on-the-go application. I always remember to gloss my lips, but not my tips. So, this will be perfect for me!
Lauren from Mom Home Guide is also sharing her Currently post today!
