5 Ways to Master Time Management in 2018
I set asside some time to jot down some notes on exactly how I could improve my time management in 2018. I wrote down a list of what I could improve and also what items sucked up the most time. Taking a little time out to reprioritize and reflect always helps you to get your ducks back in a row again.
1. Start the Morning Off Right
What I have found that helps me start my day off right, is to get up early and to get some items done before everyone else is up. I feel like once my kids are awake, it takes me 3 times longer to do a simple task and then I need to help them get ready. I love starting every morning with a delicious breakfast cereal, such as Special K® Cereal to fuel me for the rest of the day.
I purchased three boxes of the Special K® Cereal in Special K® Chocolate Delight Cereal, Special K® Nourish Coconut Cranberry Almond Cereal and Special K® Fruit and Yogurt. This is definitely a cereal that loves you back with each spoonful!
I also purchased a box of the Special K® Strawberry Pastry Crisps and the Special K® Protein Chocolate Cherry Nut Bar for snacks.
2. Don’t Get Overwhelmed with Your Out of Control To Do List
What really stresses me out is my out of control ‘To Do List’. I’ve been trying to say no to even more this year and I’m trying to be more realistic about what I can and cannot get done. I also find that if I set priorities and deadlines, I can get more accomplished. I also try to work when I’m the most productive and have few interruptions. Sometimes having a little snack in-between breakfast and lunch, such as this Special K® Protein Chocolate Cherry Nut Bar, helps fuel my busy day.
3. Don’t Let Social Media Own You
Social media can be a HUGE time sucker. It’s hard, because sometimes you need a little break and you want to just scroll through your Facebook or Instagram feed… but, before you know it, you’ve been scrolling for a half hour or even an hour or longer! Or, you may decide to tackle an email and then three new ones pop into your InBox. Sometimes it is important to just take a break, or even assigning social media OFF hours or even days (such as the weekend). If you spend an average of 1-2 hours on social media each day, just think about what other items you could tackle in that time instead.
4. Set Specific Time Aside for Working Time, Family Time and Personal Time
It is important to find a healthy balance between work, family and personal time. I could spend every hour of my day working on my blog, but then I wouldn’t have any family or personal time! Personal time is probably the most important time of all, but it is probably what you spend the least amount of time on. Family time is also important, because you’re spending time with those that you love, which makes you feel loved and secure. I would think about how much time you allocate to each of these and if you need to work towards making changes.
5. Ask for Help
Sometimes you just need to ask for help, because you may be juggling too much at once. I recently used grocery delivery service on a day before we were hosting when it was snowing outside and I was SO relieved. I saved a lot of time and had more time to prep food and get the house in order before our guests arrived. I also asked my husband awhile back to help me more in the morning with getting the kids ready and he was more than willing to help! Sometimes I think we are afraid to ask for help and don’t realize others are more than happy to help us. Or, sometimes it is worth paying a little extra for a service, such as grocery delivery on a day when you’re already over scheduled. Now that our kids are getting older, we would like to delegate more tasks to them, which will give them more responsibility (and it’ll help lighten MY workload!).
Special K® Pastry Crisps are a tasty selection of bakery inspired favorites that will help satisfy your sweetest cravings. Special K® Protein bars give you the protein you need to fuel your day. These are perfect snacks to keep you going after breakfast. However you eat it, own it.
How do you plan to stay on top of your to do list and ‘own it’ this year?
