My sweet girl is going back to school soon! I wanted to surprise her with a mom and daughter ice cream social with her favorite show and a special treat. Today I’m sharing how you can make your own marshmallow popcorn balls into sundaes with Pop Secret popcorn from Walmart. This popcorn has an unbeatable taste with better ingredients and inventive flavors. These popcorn ball sundaes are perfect to enjoy while watching Season 6 of Spirit Riding Free, which is available on Netflix August 17th. It’s the perfect way to unwind and get into the back to school spirit!
If you haven’t heard of Spirit Riding Free, it’s the perfect show to share with your daughter. A 12-year-old girl named Lucky, encounters a wild kiger mustang named Spirit. The horse is caught by wranglers and brought to be “broken” in at Miradero. Lucky gradually bonds with the stallion, and frees him. Lucky also meets two other girls, Pru and Abigail, who both own horses. They embark on everyday adventures across the land.

How to Make Marshmallow Popcorn Balls for an Ice Cream Social
Making marshmallow popcorn balls is really easy, especially when you use Pop Secret popcorn, which I purchased from Walmart.
Here are the ingredients you’ll need:
- 1 bag of popped Pop Secret popcorn
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup corn syrup
- 5 oz marshmallows
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- cooking spray
- chocolate syrup
- red gum balls
- sprinkles
- sundae cups
- spoons
This will make 6 popcorn balls, you can double the recipe to make 12 popcorn balls.
To make the marshmallow popcorn balls, you’ll need to melt the butter, sugar and corn syrup in a sauce pan. Then, mix in the marshmallows and stir until they are melted. Finally, add the vanilla to the mixture.
Spray your hands with cooking spray (so the popcorn mixture doesn’t stick to them) and form 3″ popcorn balls.
Now, for the fun part! I got some fun cups and spoons along with some sundae toppings, such as red bubble gum balls (for the cherry!), chocolate syrup and sprinkles. You could even add some whipped cream.

It was great to wrap up the summer with a fun activity with my daughter. I love having one-on-one time with her and Spirit Riding Free gave me the perfect opportunity!
