I’ve really been enjoying our new farmhouse style kitchen and it is hard to believe that LAST summer this time, we were under demo for it! This is the LAST season I need to find decor items for the kitchen and I must say… I’ve really had fun decorating it, but I am SO relieved that now I have all the decor items I need for it for every season! I’m sure I may buy a new piece here or there to change it up a little, but it won’t be as though I’m starting from scratch. Whew! So, since I like to keep it simple, I decided to go for a lemon theme for the summer. This will last ALLLL summer long until all those sweet pumpkins come out in the fall. I’ve had the kitchen decorated for over a month now, but we’ve been so busy wrapping up the school year that I’m FINALLY sharing all this lemon goodness with y’all today!

One of my favorite new areas of the kitchen is our serving area and the glass cabinet doors and glass shelves in this space. Of course, it is so fun to decorate it from season to season and a lot of the items are the ‘bare bones’ or what I ‘don’t change’ from season to season (the plates, dessert stands, bowls, glasses, etc.). This allows me to just change a few items season to season, such as I fill the metal basket with something season specific, such as lemons… I added the Rae Dunn ‘HOME’ oversized pot with a little wreath hung over the side of it, etc.

On the counter of serving area, I have this Rae Dunn pitcher and I filled it with stems of lemon that I found at Hobby Lobby.

My favorite item on the serving area is my 2 tier stand (a 3 tier stand wouldn’t fit- boo!) and I’ve been collecting some citrus items for it over the last few months, such as the Rae Dunn ‘SOUR’ juicer, a ceramic lime slice from the Target Dollar Spot, a wooden herb sign (again, Target Dollar Spot), etc.

I got this mini chalkboard easel sign at Hobby Lobby and wrote on it with some chalk markers that I have… an easy addition/filler item and I can reuse it for something else after the summer!

I used a ceramic strawberry basket from Hobby Lobby and filled it with lemons and limes instead of strawberries… I tied a bow on it with a black and white gingham ribbon that I found at Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby has baskets of mini, medium and large lemons and limes in their faux fruit aisle.
In the main area of the kitchen, I found these adorable yellow/white ginghams place mats at HomeGoods and they’re easy to clean off on the front and then the back side of them is cork, which won’t leave a mark on your table if water gets underneath. I’ve purchased some plastic place mats in the past for the kids and water would get underneath them from their water cups and the design would rub off onto the table (our OLD kitchen table, that was thankfully VERY old!). So, I’m ALL for this design that has soft cork on the underside. PLUS, wipe off mats are a MUST, because my husband (Ha! Sorry, Brian!) AND kiddos always leave stains on any fabric place mats I get, so I just don’t even bother anymore! You’ll see I found some lemon scented soap at HomeGoods to place by the sink. 🙂
A closer shot of these lovely place mats. HomeGoods has them in other colors and patterns, too… so, I will be back in the fall to look for something that will go with my fall decor! 🙂

One last kitchen shot… I have a little corner space by my coffee machine with some more of my Rae Dunn goodies. I have a footed metal stand and I always decorate it from season to season. You’ll see a tea towel, lemons, a canister and then another one of those wooden herb signs that I found from the Target Dollar Spot on display (I have several of them and if you look back, you’ll see another one of them on my 2 tier tray).
I hope you enjoyed all this sweet lemon goodness in this post. Have a great week, friends! 🙂
