A few years ago, I started implementing changes for a healthier and happy family. At the beginning of every New Year, I look back and reflect on what kept our family healthy (and as a result, happy!) and determine what still needs improvement. Thanks to Green Giant, vita fusion, L’il Critters and Optimum Nutrition (available at Walmart) our family has been healthier and happier not just during the beginning of a New Year, but throughout the entire year.
Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day and Green Giant Veggie Hash Browns offer you one full serving of cauliflower in each serving. These hash browns make the perfect breakfast side or a satisfying snack. I’m always looking for cleaner products for my family and these hash browns are free of artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. There are a lot of other Green Giant products at Walmart, I especially love the Cauliflower Gnocchi.
I always feel like it is easy to get my family to eat fruit, but getting all of our veggies in for the day is a little more difficult. These Green Giant Veggie Hash Browns are something we all enjoy eating and we don’t even realize we’re eating cauliflower! It’s wonderful that I can boost the nutritional value of my family’s breakfast so easily!

My husband and I love to make smoothies together and have several different smoothies recipes we have grown to love. I always struggle with getting enough protein and I love to add a scoop of Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey to my smoothie. It has 24 grams of protein, with the whey protein isolate as the primary source, which means much of the carbs and fat are isolated out. It is delicious and easy to mix by itself in a glass with a spoon. You can also enjoy it in your favorite beverage. It’s only 120 calories with 1.5 grams of fat (or less) and 2 grams of sugar (or less). Additionally, it is gluten free. Other ways that we stay healthier and happier as a family is that we all go to bed at the same time each night and get up around the same time (the kids sometimes sleep a little longer). This keeps us all on schedule and prevents us from staying up too late and not getting enough sleep. Additionally, we push water as our main drink in our house and I don’t even buy sodas and I really try to limit juice. We will add fresh cut up fruit or lemon juice if we want a little flavor in our water. And, our most recent change has been implementing more meatless dinners. It is all about taking baby steps and eventually it becomes a routine.
