Hi everyone! Today I’m joining Leslie from Once Upon a Time Happily Ever After for her first round of 10 on the 10th! I always enjoy doing these kind of posts and meeting new faces and finding out more about the bloggers I already know. I’ve known Leslie for awhile now and she is just the sweetest. I hope I get to meet her someday. We share a love for the men in our life, our children (and her grandchildren), running, recipes/wine, crafts/DIY, reading and so much more. If you don’t already know Leslie, stop by and say hello to her! So, let’s get at it…
How did you celebrate spring break/Easter as a child?
We would always go to church and my mom would have an Easter basket for us and Easter hunt. I had a brother that was 6 years older than me, so a lot of the time it was just me hunting for the eggs! We went to my Grandma Hea-Hea’s house to do an egg hunt with my younger cousins Steve and Amanda and she always had LOTS of coins in the plastic eggs. The photo above is one of my mom’s most favorite Easter photos of me. I got my first chocolate bunny, but it looks like I didn’t realize I needed to take the foil off first! Ha!
Do you spring clean?
Not really!! A couple of years ago we hired a maid service and they do a way better job than I ever did at ‘deep’ cleaning. I will sweep off the front porch/clean the siding and windows and I usually give our back patio a good cleaning before we set out our lawn furniture.
What’s spring weather like where you live?
St. Louis isn’t known for having the best weather. We get maybe 3-5 REALLY nice Spring days and then the rest are overcast, gloomy and cold. However, it has been really nice here the last couple of weeks, so maybe we’ll have a really nice Spring this year before the humidity of summer kicks in. And, Thursday it is getting up to 71! Woohoo! The kids have next week off for Spring break and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for good weather.
How green is your thumb?
Indoors I enjoy keeping fresh cut flowers and I update them about once a week. My favorite fresh flowers I get are at Trader Joe’s. They have had tulips the last couple of weeks, the photo above shows the tulips I purchased last week in my cart. So pretty! However, indoor plants do not seem to survive under my care. I do have some fake plants, but we have to spray them with Bitter Apple, because our rag doll kitty likes to eat fake leaves!! Outside, we have a lawn company take away all the leaves and gum balls and spread out new mulch. I enjoy planting annuals and I have some outdoorsy Spring decor I set out.
AC on or windows open?
We usually just keep the AC on, because the kids and I have asthma/allergies. I do sometimes open the windows or usually the patio door if it is a really, really nice day. I like to air out the house a couple of times, it is just nice to get some fresh outdoor air inside! I got a new car last year and its the first time I’ve had a sunroof in YEARS. I look forward to keeping it open!
How do you decorate for spring/Easter/Passover?
I decorate in our main family area, the kitchen/family room and hang some Spring wreaths. I enjoy decorating our front porch. This year I changed up my two tier tray a bit with some new items from Hobby Lobby and HomeGoods.
How do you get bathing suit/shorts/warm weather ready?
Shop This Post:
I found THIS bathing suit on Amazon last year and I wore it in Maui and I’m sure it’ll be my fave again this year! I start working out right after Christmas for my Spring/Summer body… I feel like it takes that long!! I am planning to incorporate more running into my schedule this Spring/Summer, I took a couple of years off from long distance running. I hope to get some runs outside, even though I have the convenience of a treadmill downstairs. I’ve been eating a lot more fruits and vegetables (5-6 servings a day!) and I’ve been drinking more water. I’ve been really proud of myself for eliminating processed foods and eating what comes from the ground.
Is your closet arranged with just the current season’s clothes?
Not yet, but I plan to switch all of the closets over soon so the Spring/Summer clothes are in the front and the Fall/Winter are in the back. I will go through my Fall/Winter clothes and donate whatever I feel I am not wearing anymore.
What’s your go-to spring uniform?
I enjoy wearing denim with a cute floral or Spring colored blouse and a bright cardi that ties in with one of the colors on my top. I usually start wearing those ankle socks with shoes that are more open or flats. I can’t really wear sandals in St. Louis until May. And, I took a look back at some of my Spring/Summer outfits I shared on here last year and these two are my absolute faves:

What outdoor activities do you enjoy in the spring?
Running or walks, gardening, going to a Cardinals baseball game, a nice picnic in the park… anything outside where I can get some fresh air and enjoy the weather! I usually go shopping in Kirkwood with my friends, which is a cute decor and restaurant shopping area in St. Louis. This Spring I’m hoping to get back into some longer runs… I’m sharing my old Chicago marathon photo with you above. I am still so dang proud of myself for training and finishing that marathon! 🙂 How was it 4 years ago already?!
I hope you learned something new about me today! Be sure to join Leslie for 10 on the 10th next month!
