Happy Friday Everyone!
One – Fall Happenings
Brian and I celebrated our wedding anniversary this month on October 6th. He surprised me with these gorgeous flowers! We planned a trip to Hermann, MO in to stay at a bed and breakfast/cottage and I’ll be sharing a blog post about our trip soon. If you want to see my Highlights on Instagram from the entire weekend you can go HERE to watch.
I LOVE Starbucks in the fall, but I’ve cut back to only getting Starbucks once a week since last spring. I found this ‘healthier- ha!’ Starbucks drink that is a Grande Cold Brew with Cinnamon Almond Milk Foam. It has 40 calories, 1g fat, 6g carbohydrates, 0g protein and 6g of added sugar. Now, if you want even less sugar, check out the Grande Cold Brew with Dark Cocoa Almondmilk Foam with 4g of added sugar. These are really good, it has the silky sweet foam on the top and cold brew coffee on the bottom. BUT, since I’m only getting Starbucks once a week, I tend to get something much heavier than these. Ha!! But, these are a good alternative if you’re having a weak moment.

When I was in Target last… I saw this new Premier Protein Shake flavor… cinnamon roll! YUM!! We usually stock up on the chocolate flavor at Costco, but I had to try this and loved it!
Brian and I tried a new restaurant recently called Chicken Salad Chick. It is such a neat concept, really… they have different styles of chicken salad and you order it by the scoop or on a sandwich. I selected a scoop of chicken salad by itself and then I got a scoop of their DELICIOUS pimento cheese on a croissant. I think if I did this again, I’d reverse what I did and have the pimento on the side and the chicken salad on the croissant. Each meal came with a dill pickle, crackers and an iced cookie. We ordered our meal through the drive thru and then had a little car picnic. This really hit the spot, because I ran 10+ miles that day for my half marathon training!!
And, we got to do the coolest Halloween drive through at Grant’s Farm. Grant’s Farm is a small farm/zoo that is owned be Anheuseur Busch and it has been closed to the public since the spring, due to Covid. Well, they decided to host a Halloween drive through and the tickets sold out quickly. Thankfully, they opened up more times and after an hour of refreshing, I was able to get us tickets to it. We all enjoyed it so much and they loaded us up on kettle popcorn, kettle chips and even light up toys. Such a fun night!
Two – My 13th Half Marathon!
And, talking about that half marathon… I DID IT!! I haven’t done a half marathon in a few years and man, it was like starting over!! I signed up for the MO’ Cow Bell half marathon, hoping it’d be in person since it is just outside St. Louis county, but NOPE. But, it is probably for the best. #besafe AND, I got to pick the time and course (flat!) I wanted to run the half marathon on virtually! I did it, I got it done and now I’m still waiting for my medal to come in the mail. LOL. My time was 2:17:22 and my pace 10:28 per mile. Not my fastest half marathon, BUT I kind of wanted to take it easy since I hadn’t done one in awhile.
So, what’s next? I’m thinking I may sign up for a Virtual Run Disney race for the Spring, because Disney has the COOLEST medals. There is a Star Wars virtual race I may do in the Spring, if I feel like doing all of these long miles again… ha!
Three – Homecoming!
Nathan’s freshman year has been pretty normal, or as normal as you can get while going to school during a pandemic. They’ve been going to school in person 5 days a week and a few weeks ago the school had a socially distanced homecoming. They had a dinner, games set up inside, s’mores stations and socially distanced dancing. Nathan decided he wanted to go to homecoming two nights before THE night of the dance. Yeahhh… so, thankfully Kohls came to the rescue with a sports coat and slacks! Lol! Nathan had a great time at the dance with friends.
Four – Latest Book & Shows
I seem to be getting through audio books faster than real books lately, with all the driving I’ve been doing with the kids activities.
Stand All the Way Up by Sophie Hudson
I really enjoyed this book! I listened to it on audio and Sophie Hudson has just the most charming and comforting southern drawl. I felt as though we were sitting outside enjoying coffee together while listening to this book. Sophie goes through different stories in this book and how she came out of them strongly as a woman. She is hilarious, authentic, godly and this book touches on how we can be better for ourselves, others and for the world in general in this tiring time we live in. I didn’t realize till later into the book that I had read another book by her called Giddy Up, Eunice. Giddy Up, Eunice is another GREAT read by her and I highly recommend it.
And, as for shows…
Sweet Magnolias
This show is really cute and just the perfect girls show! It is about 3 girlfriends that live in the small southern town of Serenity and how they get through life’s challenges together. They also have a standing Mexican weekly date of homemade margaritas, chips and salsa that I need in my life right now! Ha!
Cobra Kai
This was a show that Brian and Nathan turned on and I started watching it, too… it is so good! It has the original actor from the karate kid in it along with his rival. In this series, they both start up their own karate schools and they have high school kids that get involved in learning/strengthening their karate.
Five – Pixi

Pixi just keeps the packages coming and I have two packages I’ve received recently to share with you today. The first package contained a HUUUGE bottle of their cult product, the Pixi Glow Tonic. I use this religiously in the morning and evening and it makes such a huge difference in how my skin looks and feels. I love how this bottle includes a pump and it has my name on it.
Pixi also sent me their Eye Effects and Nuance Quartettes. Each Eye Effects compact has 9 super-silky shadows that will help you create any look you desire. I received the Hazelnut Haze and Rosette Ray Eye Effects.
The Nuance Quartettes are a multi-use blush quad that gives color to your cheeks and eyes. I received the Honey Nectar and Sugar Blossom Nuance Quartettes.
I hope everyone has a nice and relaxing weekend!
