Brian and I usually take a trip away together in the summer, but this summer was the summer of Covid… so, we decided to do something a little extra fun for our anniversary! We stayed in state and visited the small town of Hermann, MO and stayed at the luxurious Hermann Hill. This place books up quickly (sometimes a year in advance) and I was excited to get a weekend booked for us. We had SO much fun and Hermann Hill was SO nice. They thought of ALL of the little details… we had a nice comfy bed, 2 fireplaces, 2 jacuzzis (one was outside), a huge deck with hot tub, a fire table, a stocked fridge, a hot breakfast brought to our room every morning with a cocktail and I could go on and on and on. Plus, Hermann has a lot of wineries, distilleries, beautiful views in nature and the Missouri river. The perfect romantic backdrop for us and we were able to relax and reconnect with each other. I would definitely come back here in the future!
We took a walk around our cottage and the grounds were beautiful. We could see the Missouri River, train tracks and lots of beautiful trees, a bridge, chapel, etc. It was so beautiful that… we took outfit photos! Why of course, right? 🙂
I took a ton of photos of our room, but I won’t post them all here. Just trust me, the room was GORGEOUS! We had a lounge area, kitchen, bedroom, huge bathroom. It was so nice!
Here is one of the fireplaces by our bed.
The other fireplace was by the jacuzzi, isn’t that cool? You could also pour essential oils into a little drawer in it, so it smelled good, too!
Our fridge was fully stocked when we arrived. They gave us a picnic basket full of sandwiches, chips, etc., a charcuterie plate with a baguette and even homemade cookies and brownies we could warm up. Our refrigerator had all kind of drinks in it, we were set!
The first morning, I couldn’t wait to see the sunset over the river and it did not disappoint!
We got to select our hot breakfast from a list and I selected french toast, which came with sweet potatoes yams, sausage and fresh pineapple. We could also select from a few cocktails and I got a Bloody Mary.
We really only had one full day to enjoy, which was Saturday. We decided to check out one of the wineries in town. Brian wanted to go to Stone Hill Winery, so that is what we did! Isn’t this view on the bluff overlooking the town just so picturesque?
Stone Hill had the most delicious wine slushies! YUM!
We had to wait a little over an hour to get seats at the restaurant at the winery, but we enjoyed a bottle of Blackberry wine overlooking the town while we waited. It was SO relaxing! The photo above shows us in the restaurant, once our reservation was ready.
I ordered French onion soup and a salad. The salad was HUUUGE and so delicious!
After all that wine, we need some coffee to wake up and stopped in Expresso Laine. It was a really cute little quaint coffee house.
They had all of these huge glass jars with coffee beans in them. It smelled so good inside!
We took a look at this sign and we both tried the Iced Caramel Marshmallow Latte. It was delish!
It was cute how they put a chocolate coffee bean on top of the drink. Brian and I sat in the cafe and enjoyed a few games of checkers, which can you guess who won all three games? (Insert an eye roll here!)
We drove past the Gasconade County Courthouse and I had to snap a photo. We had planned to do a 3 mile walk to see some of the sights in Hermann, but decided to sleep in and visit a winery for lunch instead.
The Tin Mill was a restaurant I wanted to visit, but with our short stay and it being Oktoberfest while there, we weren’t able to stop in. But, maybe on our next visit we’ll be able to eat there.
Ok, so I mentioned it was Oktoberfest while we were there, right? Well, there were a lot of college kids there AND… one of them was dressed up as Tiger King! So funny, right?
After a day at the winery and some coffee, we came back to our cottage and sat outside and talked till it got dark. We enjoyed some s’mores packages that Hermann Hill had left for us.
The next morning I sat outside and enjoyed the sunset with a cup of coffee. Isn’t this mug adorable?
We had a hot breakfast brought to us again and this time I had a baked cheesy breakfast casserole (SO good!), fingerling potatoes, bacon, watermelon and a Mimosa.
Before we left, I was outside on our deck again enjoying the view of the Missouri River and I saw a couple barges go by.
We had a beautiful weekend together! I was sad when it was over and I had to go back to the reality. But, we’ll definitely be back someday!
