Hey everyone! It has seemed like a LONG time since I’ve shared a craft project on here, but today I am sharing a Farmhouse Wooden Door with Monogram. Last year, I spied this wooden door in the Target Dollar Spot, but it was a little scratched up and I didn’t like the color of it. I decided to ‘glam it up’ a bit at home and I am really pleased with the end result! I plan to use this door as a decor item in my home and it’ll also make a great photo prop for blog photos! I am kicking myself for not grabbing two of these doors, because if I had another one I would paint it red and it would look SO cute as a backdrop in Christmas photos. So, fingers crossed… maybe they will make more of these wooden doors in the future and set them out in the Target Dollar Spot.
This project didn’t need a lot of supplies. You’ll see what the door looked like before I glammed it up. It was black and I wanted it to be white, so I purchased a primer spray paint in white to spray over it. I also purchased some white and gold paint, gold vinyl, FrogTape and some greenery with white buds for a wreath.
The first step was spray painting the door outside with the primer. Then, I brought it inside and taped off the door knob. I painted several coats of white on it. Then, I removed the FrogTape and painted the door knob with the gold paint.
The next step was creating the monogram for the door. My daughter recently received a Cricut Joy for Christmas and I wanted to try it out for the monogram. Cricut has a website where you login and create your artwork. I landed up buying some ‘tail’ artwork on Etsy, because I wanted the tail on the word ‘hello’ to be elongated.
I printed out the artwork on the Cricut Joy machine.
Then, I used transfer paper to transfer the permanent vinyl onto the door. The funny thing is that we have a monogram on our ACTUAL front door to our house. So, this miniature door kind of matches our real front door! 🙂
The last step was making a miniature wreath for this door. I bought some greenery with white buds and twisted it into a circle shape, secured it with a little piece of floral wire and then I hot glued it to the door.
This door was a fun project and I am really pleased with how bright and cheerful it looks! It took me a long time to get myself motivated to work on it, since this entire ‘Covid’ year (plus) has been really busy. I’m glad I finally got around to it! Do you ever feel relieved once you get a project done that you’ve drug your feet on? Well, that is how I feel right now! 🙂
I hope you enjoy this ‘Glammed Up’ Target Dollar Spot Wooden Door with Monogram project. Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever ‘Glammed Up’ anything up from the Target Dollar Spot.
