Happy Friday Everyone!
One – Current Happenings
Happy Friday, I hope everyone is having a great summer… and, this summer sure is flying by. I feel like once we hit July 4th, the summer is half over for the kids as they’re 6 weeks into their 12 weeks off school. So, we are making the most of it!! This summer we have been checking out a new (to us) breakfast place every 2 weeks and it has been so much fun!
We decided to try Squire’s in Lafayette Square first and it did not disappoint. I used to visit this place for lunch when I still worked full-time and Brian and I have been here for dinner a few times. Autumn and I both ordered the biscuit and gravy and then it had an egg hash over it. So delicious (and filling!!!)!

I purchased these Long Resistance Loop Cloth Bands recently and I LOOOVE them! It seems resistance bands are all the rage lately in strength training! I have been doing strength workouts with John Peel on my iFit app and he frequently has us go from hand weights to kettlebells to these loop bands! He uses latex loop bands, but I really like these cloth loop bands as they’re a little thicker and SO much more softer!

I recently purchased this Flippy iPad/iPhone/electronic cushion holder and I just LOVE it for when I read my electronic books on my iPad in bed. It has a lot of colors/patterns to pick from, but this leopard pattern was perfect for me. My son has been borrowing it a lot, so I may need to buy him his own! LOL!

I can’t believe these Big Claw Hair Clips are in style again! Ha, ha! It seems everything does seem to make a comeback in time, such as scrunchies are now mainstream again. My daughter is borrowing the pink hair clip right now, but I love these for after I take a shower or if I’m outside and it is hot/humid or windy.

I have never tried a ‘stick on/adhesive’ bra before, but I’ve been hearing more and more about them. Sooo since I REALLY hate strapless bras (ouchie!), I thought I’d give this feather lite stick on bra a try! So far, so good!
Three – Signed up for a REAL in person Half Marathon for this Fall!
Since I’m fully vaccinated, I thought I’d sign up for an in person half marathon this Fall. I did a virtual half marathon last spring AND fall and as much as I enjoyed picking the date and time I wanted to run them, it was kind of lonely! I selected a local race, the MO’ Cowbell, which I ran virtually last fall and I ran it in person several years ago. I will be in week 2 of training for this half marathon when you read this post.
Four – Latest Book & Shows
Purchase this Book:
American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins
This is one of my favorite books I have read this year. This book is a real page turner and although it is fictional, it’ll give you a new respect for what some go through in Mexico under the harsh reality of life with cartels and gangs with drugs and violence mixed in. How scary it is for the innocent people in the country, especially the ones that need to migrate away from their homes or that lose loved ones in the crossfire. This book explains the story of Lydia and her son Lucas and how they lose everything due to a cartel in their town and how they must leave instantly and try to make it to America to survive. It is gruesome, heartbreaking and you’ll read this book quickly.
And, as for shows…
We are STILL currently watching Outlander and it is taking us awhile to get through it. I’ll update more once we finish it. 🙂
Five – Craft with Nail Polish Book Review
Purchase this Book:
Chic and Jo are two blogging best friends that I met at the Haven conference a few years ago in Charleston. Recently they collaborated together (during the pandemic of all times!) and came up with an idea for a unique book all about DIY nail polish crafts! Their book Craft with Nail Polish is sold on Amazon (purchase it HERE!) and has beginner guides to crafting with nail polish. They sent me their book, which has 20 easy nail polish projects and every page is full of high-quality full color step-by-step instructions. One of the techniques that I can’t wait to try out in the book is the marbling technique, which you can use on coffee mugs or dishwater. The projects range from flowerpots, wood/glass/plastic (all kinds of mediums!), phone cases, shoes, hair accessories and more. Be sure to follow them on Instagram HERE, because they are planning to have some upcoming giveaways for the book!
I hope everyone has a nice and relaxing weekend!
