Happy Friday Everyone!
One – Current Happenings
Happy Friday, friends! I hope you are all having a good start to the fall and September! We were able to get in another tea time (I feel like we got 2-3 times a year) and it was a lot of fun! We really love the London Tea Room and have gone there at least four or five times now for tea time.
Autumn and I found a new store by us that kind of reminds me of LUSH. It is called Buff City Soap and they have bath bombs, bar soap, shower frizzers, etc. It is a really neat store! The photo above shows the agate soaps we saw on our way out of the store.
In early September, I had to take Autumn to the ER to get 3 stitches in the side of her left index finger. She was getting ready to take a shower. We had gotten some soap bars at Buff City soap and she wanted to cut a smaller piece off of a bar of soap for her shower. Well, it was a busy evening and I should have been watching her better and she cut her poor finger. The ER was packed, but after 7 hours and having a room that was a bed with a shower curtain around it out in the hall, she finally got into a regular room. I think I will be ordering some cutting gloves for her off of Amazon for the future. Today she finally gets her stitches out after school! She’s been a trooper!
Autumn is into rocks and crystals lately (I think it is a TikTok trend) and to cheer her up the next day after getting her stitches I took her to a cute little rock shop.
Brian and I tried a new trendy restaurant in St. Louis called Vicia. They do a custom menu based on what you like and then you are surprised when you show up. Everything is made fresh from their farm and it was all top notch and delicious! I am showing a photo above of our entree and sides, but they also gave us about 4-5 small appetizer plates before this and they were almost too pretty to eat! Such a unique place and you will love every bite! I can’t wait to go back.
Two – Crushing on Fall
Well, maybe I’m a little late sharing this… but, this was my first pumpkin cream cold brew of the fall season! I’ve never gotten it as a venti before, but I think I prefer the grande size. I did get extra foam, but I feel once you run out of the foam the cold brew coffee is a bit bitter. However, my friend Ashley from Make Life Marvelous says if you add a pump of the white mocha sauce it helps make the bitter cold brew coffee taste sweet till the last gulp! I need to try that still!
One of my favorite things to do in the fall is to hit up the Dollar Spot at Target and to see what fall items they have. I scored these fuzzy pumpkins for only $1.00 each!
Shop these Nail Colors:
Another favorite of mine to do in the fall is to buy some new fall nail color!! I picked up these three Essie shades at my last Target trip.
Wild Nude on Left, Penny Talk in middle, Bed Rock & Roll on right.
In the fall when the kids are back in school, I try to put more focus on what I eat for lunch. During the school year I like to eat all vegetarian lunches (if I can help it!), the same lunch everyday for 5-6 days (less planning and less ingredients needed at the store) AND it has to be something I can whip up in 5-10 minutes TOPS. I’ll try to share some of my lunches this year with you. This wedge salad has all the healthy toppings. I slice up 1/3 of an iceberg lettuce (I always get organic, it is just always yummier) and then I top it with some low fat bleu cheese dressing, veggies, fruit/berries, baked sweet potatoes dusted with pink Himalayan salt and pumpkin seeds. Morning Star has the yummiest buffalo chik patties which I slice up and add to the top for more protein. It is SO good and hearty! This is a big dinner plate full of salad right here!
Three – Back to School and a ‘Little More Normal’.
Well, the kids are back in school and Nathan is a sophomore and Autumn is starting 7th grade. Autumn started a new school that is closer to our house this year and we are in the process of changing to the church affiliated with the school. It’s been a little crazy getting used to the new school, teachers, church membership stuff, etc., etc., but we are getting there. With this school year brings a lot more ‘normal’ as in football games (Nathan plays band in them), cross country meets in St. Louis county again and just a lot more in person stuff. I won’t lie, I feel a bit overwhelmed and our schedule is overloaded. BUT, I would rather be moving forward than backwards, so this is all good and I’m glad my kids are getting to experience a taste of normal life (or whatever the new normal is) again. We are all vaccinated, but I am hoping we all stay well!
Nathan had his time trials for cross country a couple of weeks ago.
And, he also got to play at the football game for the first time. He really enjoyed it!
Autumn finished her choreography classes for dance and she’s started regular dance classes. She MIGHT be trying out basketball at her new school this winter if we can fit it in.
Four – Latest Book & Shows
No books to report, but I’m slowly trying to finish my last summer read, People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry.
And, as for shows…
We just finished the newest season of The Handmaid’s Tale and it was SO good! Now we are watching the newest season of Virgin River (which is also good!).
Five – Sweet Birthday Gift
My sweet friend Jill from Doused in Pink sent me over the cutest gifts for my birthday. She sent me this neat mixallogy organic cocktail mixer that I can’t wait to try on the weekend! Some hand cream, a candle, black bar soap and a sequin card. Thank you so much, Jill!
I hope everyone has a nice and relaxing weekend!
