Happy Friday Everyone!
One – Nathan’s 16th Birthday!
Happy Friday, friends! Our May has been a busy one and there has been A LOT of stuff going on with the teens. So, this Friday Five will have a little more of that in it than usual. First up, we celebrated Nathan’s 16th birthday!! Since Autumn got the special sign greeting in our yard for her 13th birthday, I thought it’d be nice to do it again for Nathan’s 16th birthday!
We had them set it up for the Saturday after his birthday, since he had finals all week. But, on the Saturday they set it up we had high winds, thunderstorms and lots of rain the ENTIRE day. The photo I took here was when we had a little lull in the storm. We even had the number 6 on the ’16’ fall off the metal rod it was on with all the wind. We got it fixed, though!
We started out Nathan’s birthday with an assortment of donuts from Krispy Kreme (his fave!) and… a little surprise roll of toilet paper (shop toilet paper HERE).
Nathan had finals on his birthday, which is always a bummer. I got a photo of him outside with his birthday balloons. Instead of a cake, Nathan wanted a delicious cookie cake. We went to Melting Pot (after finals were over for the week!) for fondue for his birthday and it was a lot of fun.
Two – Mother’s Day!
Mother’s Day was a beautiful day outside! We stopped by my mom’s house and took some family photos.
Brian and the teens surprised me with roses and Shari’s chocolate covered strawberries. Yum! Autumn seems to always have a dance competition on Mother’s Day weekend, so I woke up early to get her ready to perform on the stage. Thankfully, we were only at the dance competition for a few hours, versus the twelve hours we were there last year on Mother’s Day. We enjoyed dinner at a seafood place called Bristols.
Three – All the End of the Year School Stuff
Nathan got inducted into the National Honor Society at school. We are so proud of him!
After a couple years of Covid, there was finally an in person grandparents day! My mom got to come up to see Autumn’s new school and spend a half day with her.
And, of course… it wouldn’t be the end of the school year without a couple of band concerts. Nathan plays the clarinet for wind symphony and Autumn plays the flute in middle school band.
Four – Aventura Interview
I have been an ambassador for Aventura for a few years and they kindly asked me to do an interview for their site. Here is their description of the interview: Our ambassador Carrie Albrecht, a sustainability-obsessed mom of a teenage daughter, understands the importance of fashion to both mental health and the environment. As a true expression of creativity (of which Carrie is brimming with!), fashion plays a huge role in her life, but this blogger is conscious of what she’s leaving behind. I’d love for you to check out the interview HERE.
Five – Outlet Mall Finds
I love going to the outlet mall in the early Spring! I didn’t find a WHOLE lot this time, but I did bring home some items. I got this cute chambray top and blue/white striped dress at J. Crew.
At the LOFT I found this cute gray tank (it has a cute stitching around the neck) and got these tie waist blue shorts and eyelet skirt to go with it.
At The Gap I got a Beatles cropped tee (it a longer crop, WHEW!) and some new running clothes.
I hope everyone has a nice and relaxing long weekend!
