We have a trip coming up to San Diego and it has been so exciting to plan out swimsuits, warm weather accessories, etc. for our family! Last year we went to Myrtle Beach, but it was a dance national trip, so we are excited to have a family vacation this year that is more low key.
Today I’m sharing a few new swimsuits that I purchased for the trip. I decided that I wanted to check out some other shops besides Amazon for swimsuits this year. I LOVE Amazon suits, but I just wanted to switch it up a bit. Also, I’m sharing the swimsuits we got for Autumn. Let me just say that Target has a Junior line of swimsuits and they are a LIFESAVER! We tried SheIn for swimsuits last year for Autumn and I know a lot of people have luck with them, it was a TOTAL fail for us. So, I’ll share more on that below. I’m sharing some cover ups (Target again!) and some beach accessories (earrings, bags, sunscreen, etc.) that we’ll be taking along on the trip with us.

Since this is a trip we are taking with our teens, I wanted to be a little more modest with my swimsuits. We have a pool at our hotel, but we are only spending one day at the La Jolla beach, so I stuck to just 3 new swimsuits. I figure that I can wear them when we hit the pool at home after our trip. This Feeling Sweet White Ruffled One Piece is from Mint Julep. I needed a dress for Easter and this was a last minute addition to my cart. I really love ruffles and the row of ruffles at the top is so cute!! This one piece comes in multiple colors (coral, black or white) and this is the first time I’ve purchased a white suit.

Here is what the Feeling Sweet White Ruffled looks like on. One thing that is nice is that it is full cheek coverage in the back. The white material may be a little less forgiving with too many tacos on vacation, but I think it’ll look really nice with a tan! I am working with Beauty Brands again this quarter and I’m going to be getting my first ever spray tan before our trip! I’m excited to see how much the white will pop out in this suit after I get my golden glow! Ha!

My next two swimsuits are from Aerie, which is a new swimsuit brand for me. I will have to say, Aerie may be my favorite swimsuit brand I’ve ever purchased in a long time! Now, I do have some Amazon suits that I adore, but the quality on them just can’t be matched with Aerie. The two swimsuits I purchased are REALLY nice! The material is thick and they have mix and match options for their bikinis. The first suit I’m sharing with you is this bubblegum pink Ruffle Longline Triangle Bikini Top with their High Cut Cheeky Bikini Bottom. This is my ‘fun’ swimsuit, that isn’t a ‘mom’ swimsuit, but it isn’t too revealing.

Now, I will say that the back of the bikini IS very cheeky and I may be thin, but I’ve always had a full bootie! Ha! I will say that I am glad I am getting a spray tan before the trip, it will definitely help my back side look its best! I did look for a bottom option that would have a little more cheek coverage, but they didn’t have any in the color I wanted. It is high waisted, though, so that is nice. I think it’ll be fun and you only live once… might as well show a little cheek! Ha, ha!

The other Aerie suit I purchased is my ABSOLUTE fave of the three! This Ribbed Shine Wrap One Piece makes you feel like you’re wearing a two piece, yet it is a one piece that you wrap and tie at the waist. (Make sure it is tied TIGHTLY or… you’ll have an oopsie moment!) Another blogger friend has this suit in the same color and another friend I know has this suit in black and one of her sisters has the same suit too! So, this must be a popular suit from Aerie!

This suit is really nice on, it has a nice breathable yet thick material and I love how flattering it looks once you wrap and tie it at the waist. It has really nice cheek coverage, which is always a bonus in my book. I would say that if you’re looking for a new suit and you want something cute and that isn’t a ‘complete’ one piece, check this Ribbed Shine Wrap swimsuit out immediately, because it is at a really good price right now on Aerie! I have a few cover ups in my closet already, but I was looking for some new colors/options to go with my new suits. Also, Autumn grew so much in the last year that she needed a new cover up. Once again, the Target Juniors section came to the rescue! I found this Juniors’ Tiered Mini Cover Up Dress – Xhilaration and I love that it comes in a basic white or black option. A size small worked great for Autumn and I sized up one for myself and got a medium (since Juniors sizes fit a little small).

This Juniors’ Smocked Ruffle Cover Up Skirt – Xhilaration is a really popular cover up option on Target’s site and it has a lot of reviews. Once again, it comes in a basic white or black color option. Autumn got a small and I sized up to a medium for myself.

These Rattan Earrings Handmade Rattan Ball Hoop Earrings were an Amazon find and they’re lightweight and would look great with a summer dress or swimsuit! They come in some bright summer colors, such as blue, pink, etc. or you can even get them in white!

For Mother’s Day, Brian gifted me some jewelry from Victoria Emerson. One necklace that he got me was this Bar Beach Rope Chain Pendant Necklace. This necklace will be so pretty and simple with a summer dress or at the pool/beach with my swimsuit. It is definitely going to San Diego with me!

We get out an explore once a week at our house in the summer (and sometimes more often!) and I enjoy being hands free. Lululemon’s Everywhere Belt Bag is the IT summer hands free bag! It has an adjustable belt, lots of pockets and a zipper closure. It comes in multiple colors and I have it in white and black. I’m planning to take it along with me when we go to San Diego for the San Diego Zoo and our day trip to Disneyland!

It’s important to wear sunscreen if you’re out in the sun. I’ve been enjoying the Supergoop! SPF Bestsellers Starter Kit that has assortment of travel sized SuperGoop! products. They’re small enough to take along with you on vacation. I purchased these during the Sephora Spring Sale, so that I could try them out before purchasing full sizes of them.

We had a lot of luck with Target’s Junior swimsuit selection this year for Autumn. She’s more on the slim/athletic side, so we ordered her size XS and Small from a few of the swimsuits she liked online. We landed up going with an XS on top and Small on bottom for her. It is great that Target gives you the option to mix and match sizes with tops and bottoms. Her favorite swimsuit is this Juniors’ Smocked Longline Bikini Top by Xhilaration. You can’t go wrong with smocking in the summer and the white color is so pretty! It’s also available in Sage Green, Purple and Black. She paired the matching Juniors’ Smocked Cheeky Bikini Bottom by Xhilaration with the top.

The second bikini that Autumn selected was the Juniors’ Textured Ruffle Shoulder Bralette Bikini Top – Xhilaration. This is a great option for any tween/teen, because the bikini top is similar to a bralette and it has a really cute ruffled sleeve detail. She paired the matching Juniors’ Textured Stripe Cheeky Bikini Bottom by Xhilaration with it.

The last bikini she selected is really cute on top with the bow and little cut out. The top is the Juniors’ Shirred Underwire Bikini Top by Xhilaration and it’s available and many different colors. The bottom that matches it is the Juniors’ Extra Cheeky Bikini Bottom by Xhilaration. Of the three bikinis, we both agreed that the first two were the cutest and the most modest. So, this third bikini is kind of an ‘extra’, but it is still a cute option.
