Happy Friday Everyone!
One – Latest Happenings!
Happy Friday, friends! Here are some belated Father’s Day photos. We went to Nine Mile Garden in Affton, MO with my mom, brother and SIL. We brought back some food for my dad. Nine Mile Garden is a food truck place with a canteen. It is a lot of fun. I want to mention that I will be taking next week (4th of July week) completely off from blogging, so this will be my last post for a week! As I’ve mentioned before, I’m trying to soak up the summer with my teens and it’ll be back to normal in the fall when we’re all talking about #PSL’s and boots again! I’ll be taking another week off sometime in August.
One big highlight of the summer is that Nathan has his license AND grandma’s old car!! Wow… it is an adjustment when one of your kids start to drive. It really is… More worrying, less time with them in the car and more rules to enforce that don’t go over well at first. Ha, ha! One tip I have is to type out a list of rules and have them sign them before they even start to drive. Then they know what to expect up front, because a car brings a whole lotta responsibility. One benefit is that I am saving SO much time in the morning, because I don’t have to drive him to cross country practice in the morning at 8:30 a.m., then turn around and pick him back up at 10 a.m. What have I been doing with the time in the morning? I’ve been watering my plants (heat wave here!) and doing a lot of weeding/tending to my gardens before the heat sets in. My garden beds/pots have never looked so good! And, it is so relaxing to do this first thing in the morning.
Autumn had her dance recital! It was really cute with a western theme. She now has about 5 weeks off from dance, I think? She has a camp at the end of July. And, this week we’ll find out what competitive dance lines she’ll be in for next year. We do know she has a duet with her dance bestie again, but she applied to do her first ever solo and we’re anxious to see if she’ll get it! We’ll also see what dance lines she’ll get into. She did tap and tap line last year.
Autumn has really been growing up these days! We have known since last November that her vision was getting worse. When she couldn’t see the screen at church very well, I knew I needed to get her in again prior to the 1 year mark. She landed up getting her first pair of glasses, which I know she won’t want to wear… so, we also got contacts! She’s been doing good with the contacts and will wear them everyday once school starts. During the summer, I’m letting her wear them a few hours a day here and there for now to get used to them. When Nathan got contacts, he had already been wearing glasses for awhile, so he wore them everyday right from the start. Autumn’s vision isn’t AS bad, so she hasn’t wanted to wear them as much yet this summer.

Two – New Things!
Shop Pura Vida Bracelets Here:
If you have a tween or teen, you’ve definitely heard about Pura Vida bracelets. They’re all the thing right now… right after Lululemon. While in San Diego we got to visit a Pura Vida STORE (we don’t have them in St. Louis!) and purchase some bracelets. Since then, Autumn has signed up for their bracelet monthly club where you get 2 bracelets a month (you pick one and the other one is a surprise).
We finally (after 20+ years!) got new couches in our family room. We went with La-Z-Boy Furniture, which is a new store to us and we’ve been really pleased with them so far! We went with their Kennedy sofa and loveseat in the Fog color.
Since we have two teens, I decided to be proactive this time and I ordered a couple of couch protectors that are easy to get on/off and wash. And, since the arms on the sofa is more narrow, I purchased myself a little couch side tray. I really love this tray! It holds my drink and a few of my planners/books and reading glasses. Yay!
Three – Winery Day
Brian and I wanted to do a wine day and decided to stick to one close to our home. This Wild Sun Winery is the perfect place! They let you bring your own picnic basket, but if you don’t want to bring food they offer a full menu of items. Their wine is SO good. We did the tasting where we got to try a little wine from EACH one they carry (even the dessert wines). Oh my! It was something… ha! I wore a new dress from my latest Stitch Box HERE. I’m sorry, I didn’t share the Stitch Fix box on here (nor will I), I’ve just been too busy… but, this is one item I kept in it.
We were going to sit at a picnic table, but it was too hot… so, I was glad we brought a picnic blanket and we found a nice shaded tree and sat in our lawn chairs. We got a cabernet, some crackers and gouda cheese. We finished with some warm chocolate cake! I had so much fun that I’m tempted to come back here on my birthday.
Just a photo of us under the tree enjoying our cab!
Four – Latest Books I’ve Read & Shows I’ve Watched
I’ve finally finished a book! I read The Younger Wife by Sally Hepworth on the flight to and while we had time to chill in our room while we were at San Diego. It was SOOO good… in a creepy way! Ha. Now I’m reading a summer beach read that I had planned to read last summer, but I’m finally reading this summer– Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid. And, next on my list is Apples Never Fall from Liane Moriarty.
We are probably the last people to finish Bridgerton 2. I thought it was really good!
And, we have been going to the theater a little more. We saw Top Gun and Elvis. Both were phenomenal!
Five – Summer Flowers
All the flowers have been blooming in my yard, but my absolute favorite time of the year is when my peonies bloom! They never seem to last long outside, so I always bring in some blooms to enjoy inside.
I hope everyone has a nice and relaxing long weekend! I’ll be back the week after the July 4th holiday.
