Happy Friday Everyone!
One – 4th of July!
Happy Friday, friends! Sorry this was my only post for the week, but the summer has left me really busy! I’ll be back to a regular posting schedule with some fun things once mid-August hits! Anyway, it is time for a recap for the month of July. We had a nice 4th of July at home. We ate a lot of delicious food. Nathan and I did go out and run that morning, though. Any time I have an excuse to make a charcuterie board, I’m on it!
Here is my outfit for the day, but man… I used to love jean shorts, but I’m all about athletic shorts these days. I actually changed out of my denim shorts midday and switched to my comfortable shorts! Ha, ha! I guess the pandemic has ruined me… I don’t even think jean shorts are comfortable anymore! We just had a Crumbl Cookie open up next to us and it is VERY dangerous. If you’ve ever looked up the nutrition on one Crumbl Cookie… you’ll be amazed. One cookie has more saturated fat, sugar and calories in it than an elaborate meal somewhere nice. One cookie is also 4 servings, so they try to trick you! Therefore, we only get Crumbl Cookies for special occasions. I can find a lot more desserts that aren’t THAT crazy in fat and sugar content. BUT, we had to enjoy them on the 4th! And… I have a birthday coming up next month and I think I want Crumbl Cookies in place of a birthday cake! Why do they have to be SO good yet so bad? LOL.

The evening of the fourth we set off some fireworks. I got a Solo Ranger Stove for Christmas and we had yet to use it… so, we decided to have a bonfire and s’mores. It was a little hot outside for the Solo, but we are excited to use it a lot more once fall gets here! Maybe a date night out on the back porch with some wine and charcuterie?
Two – Summer Happenings!
Brian surprised me with some ‘Just Because” flowers the day before our dating anniversary! So sweet! If you want to see a recap of our anniversary date night, check out my Instagram Reel of it HERE.

Have you seen this basket chair at Hobby Lobby? If I had a place for it, I would be buying it! And, YES… it REALLY is SOOO comfy! I could just see myself curled up in this chair with a book.
We went to Plaza Frotenac with my mom a few weeks ago. This is the mall in St. Louis that has all of the ‘expensive’ stores, such as Lululemon, Kendra Scott, Athleta, etc. Autumn got a few things for dance in the Lululemon store and then we had lunch at Brio. We all had the flourless chocolate cake (yes, it was warm!) with a big scoop of ice cream on top. You can see one of us is stealing a bite during the photo. It was so good!
We try to get to the Mauhaus Cat Cafe each summer and we are never disappointed. They have delicious iced coffees and bakery goods and then you get to snuggle with some sweet cats for an hour.
Nathan and I have been busy running together on the weeks he doesn’t have cross country practice and it has been fun to explore some different parks. We went to Queeny Park (known for its MASSIVE hills) and River’s Edge Park.
The weekend of the 4th we went on a family walk to a newish park in Arnold, MO called Pomme Creek Park. It used to be a golf course. It has a lot of fun exercise activities to do on its 2 mile course. Exploring new (to me) and old parks is one of my favorite outdoor activites!

Well, I am back at it… training for my seventeenth half marathon! I’ve been really dedicating myself to working on my overall pace/speed and it’s been hard yet I’m enjoying the challenge. While we were at Lululemon I got myself the Pace Rival Mid-Rise Skirt and I love it!! I wasn’t sure if a skirt would be good to run it, but it is very comfortable. It is also nice to wear for errands.

Four – Latest Books I’ve Read, Shows I’ve Watched & Movies!
I’ve been averaging one book a month this summer and I’m ok with that. I finished Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid this month. This book was the big summer beach read last year and I’m glad I finally had time to read it this summer. This book was a perfect read since we just got back from a California vacation! This book focuses on Nina Riva’s annual end of the summer party and how she went from a poor girl growing up on the beach to fame. It talks about her alcoholic mother and how her famous dad left her. She has three siblings that she has kept under her wing, even if it has left her no time to herself. The party gets out of control and by morning the Riva mansion goes up in flames. However, by the end of this book Nina and her siblings have confessed secrets and they will all feel free and in a better place because of it. Now I’ve started on Apples Never Fall from Liane Moriarty and it is SO good!
Sweet Magnolias is one of those feel good shows and I enjoyed Season 2 just as much as I enjoyed Season 1! We plan to watch the newest season of Outlander next that is on Netflix. And, I’m anxiously waiting for the new season of Virgin River to come out!
I saw Where the Crawdads Sing with Autumn while the boys went and saw Thor. I read the book awhile back and the movie was really good! It was a bit of a tearjerker!
Five – House Updates

I’ve been working hard on some simple house updates this summer. One project was to revamp our patio swing. We’ve had it for several years and the frame is still in great shape, but it needed new cushions, pillows and a new canopy. I can say that I’ve officially finished it and it is SO comfortable! I’ve linked the back cushions, pillows and canopy above, but the bottom cushions are from HomeGoods.

I have been spending countless hours on refreshing the overall look and layout of our finished and unfinished basement and it is really starting to look nice! We got a new cat food storage bin and a new printer cabinet and they look really nice downstairs. Nathan has been a HUGE help at putting everything together for me!

We had some junk people come to remove a lot of outdated items from our basement and one item we had them remove was my old desk. One goal of mine is to create a more functional desk and working space for myself and the blog and it is coming along great! My birthday is next month and Brian gifted me this new desk from Wayfair, my mom gifted me this comfortable yet ergonomic desk chair and Lauren from Mom Home Guide gifted me a cute but spacious Desk Pad Protector Office Desk Mat! I found the spacious new rug at Target for 68% off, so it was a total steal. I still have a lot of plans for this space, but I’ve been working on it a little here and there. I hope to do a big office reveal post with how I decorate and finish the space sometime next year (it’ll still be several months till I get the space done, I’m super slow when it comes to decorating!).
I hope everyone has a nice and relaxing weekend!
