HAPPY Valentine’s Day! Today I am doing something that is a little different over here… Shay from Mix and Match Mama is one of my all time favorite bloggers. I have followed her forever and I have taken away so many great things from her blog over the years. She does a monthly link up called ‘Let’s Look’ and I missed January’s prompt, but I’m hoping to do the rest of them for 2024! Shay shares this link up with her friend Erika and they give you a prompt for each month of the year to “look” at different aspects of your lives, blog about it and share your blog post on her link up.
So, let’s get started… Let’s Look February Prompt: Little Things We Do Every Single Day. I’m going to focus on the Little Things that bring me a little J.O.Y.
I start my days with a workout. I work out 6 days a week and then on Sunday I rest. I run 3 days a week and I do weights the other 3 days. I try to get outside to run my long run each week. I LOVE to workout in the morning and it helps me wake up, feel refreshed and ready to tackle the day. Nathan and I signed up for a Snowball Series this winter and we have our last race of 4 total races this Saturday. The best part is that when we are done, they have DONUTS! Yay!
We have 2 kittens (Ollie Bear and Princess Aurora) and one senior cat named Rose. My cats are a BIG part of my day! The 2 kittens LOVE to watch me get ready in the morning and hang out with me all day. I thought since it is Valentine’s Day, I’d share what mischief they got themselves into when I received a bouquet of flowers from Brian. They were VERY, very interested in the bouquet! Unfortunately, I had to remove the babies breath, I was a little worried they’d get into it.
Another little thing in my day is being a mom of 2 teens (that don’t really like me posting photos or talking about them much on here) and making sure they’re where they need to be (especially the one that doesn’t drive yet), fed and cared for all day long. I do A LOT of driving still, so one ‘little thing’ I love to do while driving is listen to audio books or podcasts. I’m listening to ‘Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity by Peter Attia MD‘ right now and it is SO good. Everyone has been talking about it and I really enjoy health books, so I’m glad I downloaded it onto my Audible app. I drive about 2+ hours a day, so I want to make the time productive. My next audio book will probably be Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. Have you read it yet?
Another favorite is a spritz of one of my favorite perfumes. My absolute favorites are Flowerbomb and Chloe (Chloe moreso for the spring/summer). I really enjoy getting the Sephora Best Selling Perfume Discovery Set every now and then to try out some new scents.
Well, even though I made a resolution to cut back on coffee this year… It hasn’t gone well. So, going to try to cut back to 2 coffees a week in March. I’m trying!! But, I wanted to post that my sweet friend Ashley and I talk about our coffees A LOT (ok, DAILY!) and we share photos with each other of them. We like to talk about coffee creamers a lot too. Lol. She always gets this delicious Ambrosia coffee at her local place with a ‘secret’ sauce in it. The drink is the PERFECT shade (perfect amount of milk/coffee!) for me and it looks so yummy!
Another Little Thing I do everyday is my Bible Recap! There are 365 lessons in the book (one for each day of the year) and you go through the Bible chronologically. Each lesson explains the Chapters of the Bible for that day in more detail. It has been SO helpful for me and I’ve learned so much diving into scripture each day. This isn’t the best photo, but lately I’ve loved THIS little candle warming lamp. I don’t have to worry about an open flame with my kittens, there is no smoke and your candles last longer! Plus, Autumn uses it in her room and I don’t have to worry about it getting knocked over or left unattended, so a perfect way to let your preteen or teen burn candles in their room! It is enjoyable to have a warm and cozy scent in the house.
I enjoy my essential oils diffuser if I’m not using my candle warming lamp. I set up a little area in the kitchen with a corner stacking shelf with my diffuser on top and some of my essential oils on the bottom. I can also set up the diffuser just with water if I want to use it as a dehumidifier.
I love my little couch tray that holds my daily planners (Erin Condren Life Planner & Cultivate What Matters), my Truvani clean Banana Cinnamon protein shake, lipglosses, pencil and some electronic cleaning wipes. I usually sit on this spot on the couch by the patio door unless I’m downstairs working in my home office.
Lunch is a little thing I enjoy everyday, because I can eat what I want and not take into consideration what the whole family wants to eat. Ha, ha! Plus, lunch is just so much easier to make than dinner! I’m pretty boring, I have rotating lunches and will buy what I’m going to eat for lunch for the entire week and I have that same lunch Monday-Saturday unless I cave and order something. If I order something, I try to split it and make 2 yummy meals from it (like a sandwich and salad). I try to stick to eating at home though, because it is a lot healthier. The photo above is my FAVORITE lunch, my Buffalo Chik salad. Click HERE to read my post about what I eat for lunch for some mostly vegetarian lunch ideas. I really need to update it with some of my new lunches I’ve been making.
Then, in the evening I am probably my least productive. I am a total morning person! The photo above of Ollie Bear sleeping is how I feel after about 6:00 p.m. So, I can’t think of any Little Things for the evening. Maybe I need to change that? I’ll get Autumn home from practice, we will figure out dinner (if I cook, I’ll usually cook before I pick up Autumn from practice) and then it just varies what we do before bed… relax, hang out, sometimes I’m still working on stuff for my blog, etc. I always try to get to bed at a somewhat decent time since I’m usually up by 4:45-5:30 a.m., depending on my morning workout and the school start time for the day. So, that’s a wrap on my ‘Little Things’!! I’d love to hear what a few of yours are in the comments!
If you’re interested in following along, the prompt for March is… What’s In Our Grocery Carts! I’d love to see you join in, I think this will be a lot of fun!
