Happy Friday Everyone!
I hope everyone is having a good ‘SPRING’ so far! I just got back from Scottsdale for a ‘spouses invited’ work trip with Brian and I had a blast (I even got to see Jodie again!). The teens are getting out of school a month early, due to construction that is going on at the school. Nathan is graduating in May and then both teens will be working this summer (Nathan is going to start applying soon for his first job and Autumn has a job lined up as a camp counselor). We have our first Disney cruise to look forward to mid-summer and I can’t wait! What are you up to this Spring and do you have any fun trips planned?
One – Easter & Spring Break
Jessica is the owner of the small shop Rural Cute Creations. I met her through blogging and we’ve kept in touch over the years with our seasonal gift exchanges! Jessica owns chickens (they’re her babies!) and brings me by eggs, she is SO sweet to do that! She told me I think at one point she doesn’t even like eggs, but she loves her chickens! Lol! Aren’t these eggs GORGEOUS?! I asked her and apparently the egg color goes by what kind of chicken lays them. She also crocheted me a cute chicken and got me a basket of other goodies. Jessica always gives me a bit of joy in my day when we do these gift exchanges. I’m not sure how many years we have done them, but it has been awhile. We’re hoping to do the next one at a new coffee shop by her… you know I love a good coffee and some friend time! Be sure to give her shop a follow, she makes cute polymer earrings and other items and is just so kind!
This is kind of a bad photo, but after I came in the house from doing my 11 mile long run I spotted all of these goodies on the table! Brian and Autumn had gotten me some Easter goodies at Walgreens AND Brian had been working on making me some fun things with his 3D printer. Aren’t the Bunny Cadbury egg holders cute? Autumn threw in some of her favorite beauty supplies. I was spoiled!
This photo isn’t the best, but over Spring break Autumn had her lashes tinted and curled at a spa. She was really excited about the results! She has always had perfect eyebrows and those are natural in this photo. I was supposed to do it with her, but I’m going to wait for a special occasion, since it only lasts 4-6 weeks. Have any of you ever had your lashes tinted/curled? In the photo on the right you’ll see Nathan is his BRAND NEW car! Yay! His 21 year old car from grandma died, so we agreed to pay on his new car till he gets a job after school is out. He’s been enjoying it!
We usually go to the London Tea Room for high tea during Spring break and this year it did not disappoint! And, they had champagne this year!
The waiter we had was new and he took a photo of us all, but cut off part of Brian’s face. Ahh, memories. We all had a great time. Their chicken salad is THE ABSOLUTE best, even better than Chicken Salad Chick. SO, so good!
Two – Other Happenings…
Nathan got to bring Grandma to school for Senior Grandparents Day. I am SO glad my mom was able to attend. My dad has had so many issues lately… it has been exhausting for both of them. She was at the ER all night with my dad, but he came home and she insisted she still wanted to go. I think she did get at least 5 hours of sleep, so that was good. Grandparents day is popular at schools, but it has always been hard for us with all of my dad’s health problems, even when the kids were in elementary school. I wish it could be an easier day for some kids/grandparents.
This was a big pain, but we finally got the teens passports, their first ones! We are planning to take them to Europe next summer and I wanted to get them now, so we are ready ahead of time! We have an upcoming cruise that we’ll bring them on, but they aren’t required.
I love to try a new local coffee place and this one is right by the teens school. It is called Coffee Culture and they have coffee AND homemade cookies. It was really good! I got the Oatmeal Cookie Late and a caramel apple cookie that had a filling. Their cookies are HUGE and if you could see the side of it, it is as thick as a hockey puck for reference. The cookie was soft and gooey and I think I’m going to have to come back soon!
I spied these Hostess drinks on the shelf when I was at the store. I love Hostess powdered donuts AND their chocolate cupcakes. Why, oh why couldn’t they have based an iced latte off one of those two? Maybe I should write them! And, we have been SO excited to get Blue Bell Ice cream here. My husband tried the gooey butter flavor and I have mint chocolate. Do you have Blue Bell ice cream in your stores?
I made these Strawberry Cream Scones in my air fryer and they were DELICIOUS! Have you ever baked in yours? It was so easy! I’ve been trying to use some of the recipes in the huge Consort cookbook that came with my air fryer.
Three – Running Humor
As I get into the long double digit weekly runs for half training, I saw this on my Instagram feed and thought… heck yes, this is what goes through my mind during my runs. Us runners think alike!
Four – Latest Show We Finished
So, I didn’t finish any books this month, but I’m currently listening to Fourth Wing and I’m reading Lessons in Chemistry on my iPad. Both of these are HOT books right now. Does anyone that has read Fourth Wing suggest reading the second book? And, I’m excited to watch the Lessons in Chemistry show on AppleTV once I finish it. As for shows, we just finished the fifth season of Virgin River and as always… SO much drama, parts that make me tear up and yet I LOVE this show!
Five – Latest Finds that I Love
Shop These Products:
I had to find some fun items for Autumn’s Easter basket and the kind lady at Sephora helped me. She said these Isle of Paradise face + body (and it comes with a mitt) are SO hot right now. Boy, was I right… Autumn’s face lit up when she saw it and she’s been using it regularly. Then I got her the coveted Rain Water hand mist, a Limon Cello Beauty Blender, Sephora brush cleaner and these two lip scrub pots that are really hot on Amazon right now (she said she saw them on TikTok). She told me I did good! Yay!
