I’m back with my monthly Let’s Look post. I’ll be sharing ‘Our Summer Schedule’.
Shay from Mix and Match Mama is doing this monthly link up with her friend Erika and they give you a prompt for each month of the year to “look” at different aspects of your lives, to blog about it and share your blog post on her link up.
So, let’s get started… Let’s Look: Our Summer Schedule {June Prompt}
This summer feels SO different. Nathan turned 18 in May and although he’ll be going to college locally, we have another adult in the household now! Another change is that both Nat and Aut are working jobs this summer. So, I don’t know if we really have a ‘summer schedule’ like we did when they were younger, but we do have a few things that kind of repeat week to week and I’ll cover those in this post.
An iced coffee is never better than it is in the summer. I only treat myself to Starbucks once a week, but we’ve been going a little more often for pink drinks with the teens home for the summer. We had a couple of new coffee places open up nearby too and it has been fun trying them out. Coffee day is my favorite day of the week! In the morning I also like to go outside to inspect my veggies and water my flower pots. It is relaxing to go out there in the morning before the day starts.
Summer runs are another fave of mine. Lazier schedule, less busy weekends and I can venture out to some cool parks that are a little further from my house. The only problem is when we get into the higher temps, it is so darn hot even at sunrise. I try to run 3 times a week and then I do weights 3 days a week. On Sundays I typically rest/go to church. And I enjoy taking LOTS of walks in the evenings for a double workout day!
Nathan started a new job in early June that he will work 3 days a week and then he’ll continue to work there once he starts college. His friend that graduated with him from high school works there and that is how he found out about it. It is such a good opportunity, daytime hours and he’s working with a couple of engineers that own the place and he helps them to build parts for machines. It is definitely the perfect job for Nathan! Autumn will be working as a camp counselor at our church. She will be working 3 half days a week. They are both excited about their first paycheck! Autumn has a dance camp she’s going to soon, but NO cross country practices for Nathan this summer… which seems so odd! High school days are over!
We are really excited for our Disney cruise this summer! This has been on my bucket list for a long time. I’ve done 2 Royal Caribbean cruises (YEARS ago!), but my husband and teens have NEVER been on a cruise. I can’t wait to sail! So, yes, our summer schedule includes a break/relaxation somewhere new! I’ve been planning my outfits and of course I had to find a cute shirt for the Pirates Themed Day. This Etsy shop came to the rescue and had super fast shipping!
We’ve been trying to do 1-2 fun things a week, but it is a little challenging sometimes with their work schedules. We’ve gone to Eckerts for strawberries, done an Escape room, gone to the outlet mall, some new yummy food places and to the movies. They also go over to my parents house to hang out for the day sometimes.
That is about it!! The summer is relaxing, but I feel we are still pretty busy. It is harder for me to juggle my content creation schedule around everything during the summer, but I try to do the best I can! If you’re interested in our Summer Bucket List, you can read the post HERE. I’ve made one for us as a family, for me and some fun couple things to do during the summer.
If you’re interested in following along, the prompt for July is… Podcasts and Shows We Binge. I’d love to see you join in, I think this will be a lot of fun!
