I’m back with my second post to recap our Disney Cruise vacation on the Disney Wish. On our second day onboard, we had a port call at Nassau, Bahamas. The teens were so excited to visit their first foreign country! In Nassau we did a chocolate making class, shopped and then we went back to the ship to swim, relax and then it was FORMAL photo night where they take photos of you before dinner in dressy clothes (this was optional if you didn’t feel like dressing up). It was a great day filled with lots of fun!
When we woke up, we looked out and saw the Atlantis Bahamas hotel. Way back when I did a Royal Caribbean cruise, I toured the aquarium part of the hotel. But, the hotel offers a lot more now including a water park, etc. It is a neat place to visit while in Nassau, but it is pricey these days (can be around $300pp for a day pass!). We grabbed a quick breakfast before getting off the ship to meet our tour guide for or chocolate making tour.

Everyone got stickers for their tour and that made it easier to find your tour group off the ship.
When looking at all of the Nassau excursions, I was trying to find something short and sweet and that wasn’t over $100 per person. Some of these excursions are pricey and you’re already paying the cost of the cruise, airline, etc. The Graycliff Chocolate Factory excursion had REALLY good reviews, provided transportation there and back and it was only 2.5 hours. I always worry about getting back to the ship on time, so this worked out perfect and gave us a little time to shop afterwards. This excursion cost us $75 per person and this was one of the less expensive excursions (believe it or not).
There was a little shop when we first walked in with all kinds of ‘chocolate’ items, such as pasta and wine.
Then they went into how chocolate is made and showed us their factory and let us sample their milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate. OHHH it was SO good!
They had a table set up and you got a few different ingredients to add to your chocolate, such as sprinkles, coconut, almonds and pretzels. Then you selected if you wanted milk, dark or white chocolate for your bar. It was so fun to pour it into the mold and make your own customized bar!
Here is what the other bars looked like, it was neat to see what everyone else came up with!
After we got done with the chocolate tour, we looked for a Starbucks for Autumn. Then we headed back to the area fenced off for just cruise guests, which included shops and some quick food places. All of the shops were REALLY cute!
Of course, I had to have a cocktail in a pineapple and I got my vacation souvenir, an ornament! I know I’m in most of these photos… it is hard to share photos of the teens and just easier to get one of myself half the time! They’ll volunteer to get in a photo if they want!
After we got back on the ship, we cleaned up and then headed to the top deck for lunch. They have a lot of quick service restaurants on top and we chose the grill restaurant for hot dogs, burgers and fries. Yum! After that, we decided to head to the pool for the first time.
They have an 18+ pool area and Nathan got to enjoy it, since just turned 18! The infinity pool in the adults area WAS SO COOL! We were in it while the ship was docked, but when we went in it later during the cruise the ship was moving and the water kept splashing out of the pool with the movement of the ship, but it kept refilling. The view is really cool, because the wall is glass and you get a great view of the ocean (and shore if the ship is docked). The water was the PERFECT temp too! Disney is a pro at having their pools always at a comfortable temperature. I hate to be cold in the pool!
Every evening you either go to dinner and then a show if you have the earlier dining time, or to a show and then dinner if you have the late dining time. We booked the cruise kind of late, so we got stuck with the late dining time at 8:15 p.m. They have photographers down on the main floor if you want photos before dinner and then they have a photographer that comes around your dining table and takes photos of you at the table. I took a photo of the ship at sea and it really looked like we were going so fast when looking out the window! It is so weird to look out on the ocean and not see any land in sight. We would always see another cruise ship or 2 following close to us. I think all of the ships kind of travel together and keep the same course.

It was a little tricky getting ready for the formal photos after swimming… in all honesty, I thought the formal photo night was an at sea day, so we’d have more time. But, NOPE… oops. Nathan had a different outfit planned, but we decided what he had on would still work. I honestly just wanted to go for beachy kind of dressy look… although some families had on suits and fancy cocktail dresses, etc. Most people were dressed kind of how we were… it really is up to you.
They will take as many photos as you want. We did some family photos, then some of me and Brian and the teens. The line for the photos wasn’t long at all. They usually have 3 or more places set up for photos in different areas of the ship. I bought the photo package, so I received all of the digital prints through a link at one price.
Since it was formal night, we also got one of the best dinners of the week (although honestly, they were ALL so good). But, this was the night you could order filet mignon. I started dinner with a glass of Shiraz. I did notice that on the Disney cruise they did NOT push the alcohol like they did on the Royal Caribbean cruises I’ve been on. They take your drink order at the beginning of dinner and then come by and fill your water or bread service, but not once was I asked if I wanted another glass of wine or cocktail. Now, we could have always ordered a bottle of wine and that would have been different, but I was perfectly fine with one glass of wine at dinner and then hydrating for the rest of dinner with my water. For my appetizer for this night I selected the charcuterie appetizer and the mozzarella was SO creamy and perfect.
Every night at dinner there is soup. I have never had so much soup in one week. The tomato soup I ordered that night was delicious! They typically had two different soups for you to pick from and then a couple different salad options. Disney LOVES to serve their salads (all of them, not just iceberg!) as wedges. I love me a good wedge salad, but my husband doesn’t like wedge salads as much.
I ordered the filet mignon with potatoes and green beans and it was delicious! They had some sort of steak every night that you could pick from, but this was the only night they had the filet mignon. Mine was cooked perfectly to my temperature I prefer. They have a huge assortment of different desserts to pick from each night, but several nights I just stuck to the sundae of the day. I feel like when you’re full, you always have a second stomach for ice cream. So, after almost 5 courses of food, that is what worked for me most nights!
After dinner we got back to our room and we had a bunny towel creation waiting for us!
