Ever since Brian moved in after we got married, I have been trying to update the Living Room so his couches look all their part in the room. Since Brian made my dream come true of taking me to Paris (and proposing there!), I really want to add some hints of France and Paris in our open floor layout (Living Room, Kitchen and Family Room). I have a lot of ideas on how to do that, but by starting small I decided to work on the end table in the Living Room this last weekend.
In Downtown Kirkwood this last weekend, I found typeface block letters that spell out PARIS. This was a perfect little highlight to add to this special table in our Living Room. Especially since my BFA has an emphasis in Graphic Communications, it is just a perfect little touch for our room!
After visiting the Louvre in Paris, Brian and I walked over the Pont des Arts Bridge and saw all of the love locks on the bridge. Lovers leave their lock on the bridge and drop the key into the Seine River to signify their never ending love. Unfortunately, Brian and I did not have a lock with us on the bridge, so we just took a lot of photos of the other locks on the bridge. During or wedding ceremony, Brian surprised me with a love lock that we closed together on a frame that had a photo of our lock on the Pont des Arts Bridge in Paris! He actually hired a photographer and shipped her the lock and she did a little photo shoot! Isn’t he a romantic one? I am so incredibly lucky to have Brian in my life, he makes me feel so special. 🙂
Before we got married, Brian lived in a house that had… a different style than my house does! Sooo. When he moved this marble top end table into my (well, now ‘our’) house I had to warm it up a little. It just seemed so cold and inpersonal… so I found some fabric in green and cream colors to drape over the table and a little greenery. Don’t you think it looks much warmer now? And, with all of the little Paris touches, I think I am finally happy with it!
Brian’s Mom knitted and framed his last name before she passed away years ago and we both decided it would look a lot more redeeming in a nicer frame. Here is a before picture of it on the wall before taking it over to Hobby Lobby.
At Hobby Lobby, we were able to select a frame and a double matte. Of course I went with the cream and green currently in the room, but the cream frame has a black edge which matches the black edge of the frame. You can’t really see the black edging on the matte in this photo, but when we get the frame back in 2 weeks I will share a detail shot. I can’t wait to see his Mom’s art in the new frame, it will look wonderful!
Now I just need to figure out some better wall art above the couches in the room and I need some more greenery in the room, too! But, its definitely on its way… its a work in progress, like all the other rooms in our house! 😉
