So, I had great plans for the kids on Saturday. We were going to get up early and get Nathan’s last prize for the library reading program (which we did!), then go get a box of clothes from my friend Janna’s Dad’s friend (which resulted in us getting lost for an hour AND my cell phone froze up to where I couldn’t call or get directions until I figured how to open it and take the battery out and back in. I did find someone that knew the area better to get the clothes for me, though!). Then, I was going to take the kids to Tower Grover park’s farmer market, playground and fountains and shallow pool area. WELL, here is the water area. That is the most we got– a picture!
Once we got there, we did the Farmer’s Market first because it was only open for another 30 minutes. We had A LOT of fun going from each area and got a lot of delicious produce and food such as peaches, yellow cherry tomatoes, tomatoes, blackberries, honey sticks, soft pretzels, homemade lemonade and zucchini for zucchini bread I made today. It was so much fun and the kids got a lot of samples such as apples! There was even a Grilled Cheese area where they were experts at grilling the cheese!
Chowing down on the yellow cherry maters.
Then… a storm came out of nowhere. And, it was not a short distance to our car. We all got SOAKED! Which, I had planned for the kids to get drenched in the pool, but not me or my Mom! And, while we were in the car getting ready to leave, a lightning bolt came down SO close to the car! It was LOUD! And, look at the tree it hit inside the playground! Yikes!
More pictures of the tree
My car was only 100 feet away. It was crazy. My Mom got out to take pictures and got a huge strip of the bark that was shredded off the tree for Nathan to take home as a souvenir. So scary!
