It seems like The Big Game pops up quicker each year and I’m always scrambling to pull together an attractive and delicious recipe that I know will satisfy my guests. Today I’m sharing a flavorful recipe for Brisket Chili, which I serve open faced on King’s Hawaiian Slider Buns. I set up a toppings bar to go with it, along with my game day decor and just like that I have an easy and attractive food area set up for my guests.
King’s Hawaiian products are so easy to find! You’ll find an assortment of their products in the deli/bakery aisle of your local grocer. For this recipe, I picked up the King’s Hawaiian Slider Buns, because they are pre-sliced and slightly larger than their traditional dinner rolls you may be used to. The larger size makes them PERFECT for topping with this brisket chili recipe, because they can absorb more of the chili and toppings your guests might add!
Preparing the Brisket Chili is so, so easy:
Ingredients:
- Olive Oil
- 1 Red Onion, Diced
- 2 Cloves of Garlic, Chopped
- 3 Tablespoons Chili Powder
- 1 Can Black Beans (Rinsed and Drained)
- 1 Can Diced Tomatoes
- 1 Can Tomato Paste
- 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 3 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 Tablespoon Spicy Mustard
- 1 Package of Precooked and Shredded Brisket
- King’s Hawaiian Slider Buns
Instructions:
Cook ground beef in olive oil until cooked through. Add diced onion into beef mixture until onion is partially translucent, then add garlic until done. Next, add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Then, simmer and stir for 15-20 minutes. Serve in bowls or top over King’s Hawaiian Slider Buns. Add toppings (see below) from toppings bar to add individual flavor and taste.
For the toppings bar, here are some great ideas:
- Shredded cheese.
- Sliced avocado.
- Shredded lettuce.
- Sliced olives.
- Chopped tomatoes.
- Guacamole.
- Crushed tortilla chips.
- Salsa (Extra Spicy!)
I truly believe that Buns Matter! King’s Hawaiian Pre-Sliced Slider Buns are my go to for open faced sandwiches or finger sandwiches for parties, lunch or dinner recipes. The well known sweet taste of the bun mixed with meats, cheeses or even sweet ingredients is instantly a crowd pleaser! Learn more about Hawaiian Slider Buns HERE.
