The Diffuser Blend this month is the Surf’s Up Diffuser Blend, which has a combination of essential oils in it that will make your home smell like summer. I recently purchased a larger essential oils diffuser for our family room (find it HERE), since it is such a large open space. It worked nicely at diffusing the Surf’s Up Diffuser Blend throughout the room in my home.
Recipe #1: Peppermint Infused Oil
This was an ingredient I needed for a couple of the recipes in this month’s box, such as the Summer Lovin’ Lip Balm. For this recipe you’ll need 1 Tablespoon of the Dried Peppermint Leaves that came in the recipe box, 1/4 Cup Almond Oil and a 2 oz Sealable Jar.
To make the Peppermint Infused Oil:
- Crush peppermint leaves using your hands, then place them in a jar.
- Pour almond oil over the peppermint leaves. Seal the jar.
- Place in a sunny window for 4-5 weeks, shaking the contents occasionally.
- Using a fine mesh sieve or cheese cloth (I used a coffee filter), strain out the peppermint leaves.
- To use, apply to the skin for a soothing and cooling effect, or use as a carrier oil in another recipe like the Bug Off Roll-on.
Recipe #2: Summer Lovin’ Lip Balm
Every time there is a homemade lip balm in the recipe box, I am game! I am addicted to lip balm and my favorites are the ones I’ve made with my Simply Earth recipe boxes! For these Summer Lovin’ Lip Balms, you’ll need 1 Teaspoon Beeswax, 1/2 Tablespoon Solid Coconut Oil, 1 Teaspoon Peppermint Infused Oil (see recipe above), 6 drops Good Vibes Essential Oil Blend, 2 Paper Board Lip Balm Tubes (included in this recipe box).
To make the Summer Lovin’ Lip Balm:
- Microwave in short intervals the beeswax, peppermint infused oil and coconut oil together.
- Once the mixture is just melted, remove from heat and add essential oils. Stir for at least 30 seconds.
- Quickly pour the mixture into lip balm tubes. Allow to cool to room temperature.
Recipe 3: Garden Spray
To make the Garden Spray, you’ll need Water, 2 drops Lemongrass Essential Oil and a 2 oz Spray Bottle.
To make the Garden Spray:
- Mix all ingredients in spray bottle.
- To use, shake and spray on plants (including underside of leaves) every 5-7 days or as needed to help keep bugs away from plants.
