I’m back with my second Let’s Look post. I’ll be sharing ‘Our Daily Quiet Time/Prayer Times’.
Shay from Mix and Match Mama is doing this monthly link up with her friend Erika and they give you a prompt for each month of the year to “look” at different aspects of your lives, to blog about it and share your blog post on her link up.
So, let’s get started… Let’s Look: Our Daily Quiet Time/Prayer Time {April Prompt}
I don’t really do daily ‘quiet time’ and if I did, I’d probably sit outside with a coffee if the weather was nice. However, I do participate in a daily scripture/learning the Bible time. I’ve been working through The Bible Recap, which has 365 lessons (1 Year!) in it and it takes you through the Bible chronologically. I have done several Bible studies, including reading the Bible from cover to cover in a year, but THIS Bible study has been one of the best I’ve ever done aside from the in-person CBS Bible study I did right before Covid. CBS picks 2-4 books of the Bible and you get a workbook and a small group and you meet once a week and then you have daily readings, questions for that school year.
The Bible Recap is similar, but I feel like it is a little more time intensive. I spend 40 minutes a day on it. Here is what I do each day:
- Read the day’s lesson/summary in the BIG Bible Recap book
- Read the Chapter/Verses that go along with that day in my Bible
- Listen to that day’s Podcast (I quit this about halfway in, because it took too much time)
- Write in the journal for the day
- Do the question/answer book for the day.
Here is what my desk looks like with my Bible Recap all sprawled out. I have an ESV Study Bible and I LOVE it! When I signed up for CBS, they suggested ESV and a Study Bible and then I found out that The Bible Recap prefers ESV too. Since it is a study Bible, I can look up each verse at the bottom of the Bible and it explains it. It’s very helpful! As I’m writing this post, I have NINE days left of The Bible Recap, which is UNREAL to me! I can’t believe I’m almost done. So, what do I plan to do next?

So, with The Bible Recap almost done, you may be asking me what I plan to do next? Well, I want to work on praying next! I want to do it more consistently and better… so, I found this Prayer Journal for Women yearly spiral notebook and I can’t wait to dig into it!
Every week you have two spreads to fill out (4 pages total), which you’ll see above. I think this will be a little less work than The Bible Recap has been each day and I’m ok with something a little more chill for the next year. 🙂 Has anyone else done this prayer journal? I’m excited to start it!
If you’re interested in following along, the prompt for May is… Our Summer Closet Staples. I’d love to see you join in, I think this will be a lot of fun!
