I’m back with Recap Post 2 from my Scottsdale, AZ recaps! In this post I’ll be sharing the Pink Jeep Tour I did in Sedona, Pinnacle Peak (which was in walking distance from the Four Seasons Resort we were staying at and a restaurant we dined at our second night with Brian’s work.
So while Brian and his coworkers had meetings, they planned some activities for the spouses/plus ones that were along on the trip. We had our choice of doing the Sedona Pink Jeep Tour, Golf, shopping in Old Town or spa services. I was a little nervous to try out the Pink Jeep Tour, because I am not a fan of heights, but I am SOOO glad I did it! It was a lot of fun and not too bad as far as heights go. It was a 2 hour drive to get there from Scottsdale and we took an air conditioned coach bus, which made it very relaxing. There was a lady on the coach that talked to us about different sites on our way there and gave us some history about Sedona. She also passed around a candy jar and some various artifacts from the area. The photo on the left shows a view of the desert/mountains on our drive there and the photo on the right shows the bright red mountains and touristy area of Sedona once we arrived.
The Sedona Pink Jeep Tour was so fun! They broke our group apart into two Jeeps and we were the first one to go out and the other Jeep followed closely behind us. It was pretty bumpy, but the seats had seatbelts, bars to hold onto and they were padded nicely. The photo on the right shows a really neat area that we had a picnic lunch at halfway through our tour. They gave us a blanket to keep and a bagged lunch with a sandwich, potato salad, granola bar and chips. It was a great way to meet some of the other spouses/plus ones and we had a great day together. We did feel bad for our spouses that they had to be in meetings all day back at the hotel while we had FUN! Ha! After we got back, the tour guide gave us a half hour to browse some of the touristy shops in Sedona (there was a lot!) and I got the teens and my mom some shirts. It was a long day, but lots of fun!
After we got back from the Pink Jeep Tours, I had a few hours and I REALLY wanted to check out Pinnacle Peak Park. The Four Seasons Resort has a half hour trail that leads to it and everyone on the bus had been talking about how it was a ‘must see’ on the trip. It is basically a 2 mile hike up Pinnacle Peak and a 2 mile hike down. I didn’t have time to do the entire hike, but I did get up high enough to get some really good photos! Once I arrived at the park, I saw this Rattlesnake sign and I must have been staring at it for a little too long, because the ranger came over and talked to me about it. He said that in April they are mating and the most venomous. Yikes! I did have two ladies coming down from the peak tell me they saw two rattlesnakes sunbathing at the top! I’m so glad I didn’t have time to go to the top to see that! Ha!
On the trail from the Four Seasons Resort, I got a great view of Pinnacle Peak with the sun behind it. I also saw some really pretty flowers in the desert, such as the pink flower in the photo on the right. April is when a lot of the cacti start to bloom, so it was nice to see the flowers during our short time in Scottsdale.
Once I got pretty close to the top I took a selfie (of course!) and I took some photos/videos of the views. I saw a golf course, the Four Seasons Resorts and a lot of desert and mountains. So beautiful to be on top of the world!
That evening, we had our first work dinner with Brian’s work and the plus ones. We ate at a steakhouse/seafood place called Mastro’s in North Scottsdale. It was delicious! We had a cocktail hour, a seafood tower for our appetizer (you can see it in the photo on the right, it had ALL kinds of seafood on it!), filet mignon/lobster tail and I had the butter cake for dessert. The sunset from the large window in the restaurant was beautiful—I love sunsets in Arizona!
