It is time for 12 Months of Drinks once again and for the month of October I am sharing Halloween Hot Chocolate! Halloween is less then two weeks away and you may be thinking about some fun drink options to do on that special day. These colorful drinks would be perfect for a Halloween movie night at home, a Halloween party, Halloween dinner, class party, etc. All you need to do is make the hot chocolate over the stove, then serve immediately or you can even keep it warm in a crockpot. You’ll want some fun straws, marshmallows, sprinkles and even whipped cream so that everyone can customize their own drink!
I used clear mason jars with handles so that you can see the color of the hot cocoa. I found some Halloween peeps at Target and they really look festive with these drinks!
I had a lot of fun decorating these drinks! Are you ready to see the theme I gave each drink? I am sure if I left this in my kids hands, they would come up with all kinds of creative ways to decorate their hot chocolate based on the color of it!
Pumpkin-themed hot chocolate.
Our monster/ghost-themed drink (I had to add the monster eyes, otherwise I guess it is just a ghost drink! ha!).
And, the Tombstone hot chocolate drink!
Yeah, yeah… I had way too much fun working on this blog post. They presentation of a drink is everything, right?
Now, let me share with you how to make Halloween Hot Chocolate:
You’ll need two ingredients for the actual hot chocolate itself: white chips and milk. Yes, this is white hot chocolate with food coloring mixed in to add the Halloween colors. So, you’ll need food coloring in the colors you are interested in… black, orange, green and purple are great Halloween colors!
You can find Halloween straws for $1 a pack in Target’s $1 spot and I also found the Halloween peeps at Target. The Halloween sprinkles, Halloween marshmallows and candy eyeballs were from Schnucks.
Pour 8 cups of milk into a pot on the stove and cook on high heat until you see bubbles form on top.
Pour your white chocolate chips into the milk and remove from heat. Stir until the chips have completely melted into the milk.
Pour in one teaspoon of vanilla.
Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and then add a few drops of food coloring and stir.
And, you have yourself a Halloween drink! Don’t forget to add sprinkles, marshmallows, whipped cream, etc.
