I am guest-posting today over at Rachel’s blog, Garay Treasures. Be sure to visit her blog to see my Autumn Fashions Picks.
Now, back to Disney!
Today I’m sharing Day Three of our Disney trip, which was a REST day! We spent this day at our hotel and then we went to the Wilderness Lodge later that evening for dinner at the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue. We had never scheduled in a rest day at Disney before and I was glad we did. The photo above was taken at Disney’s Boardwalk and you can see our hotel, The Beach Club in the background.
We got up early and decided to walk to the Boardwalk for breakfast instead of eating breakfast at our hotel again. Here is the view of our hotel from the other side of the lake. There was a wedding going on that morning on the beach. I really think I will bring my running shoes if we ever vacation at any of the hotels around this waterfront, because I saw a lot of runners out there that morning. What a perfectly scenic place to run!
Inside the bakery there were SO many trays full of treats. Look at these Mickey Tarts!
I ordered the hot cinnamon roll and it was DELICIOUS! The Disney Dining Plan worked at the Boardwalk Cafe and I got the cinnamon roll, a cup of fruit and a cappuccino for my breakfast!
It was starting to get a little hot, so we decided to take the 2 minute boat ride across the lake back to our hotel. Not bad at all and it was air conditioned inside.
Then, we decided to spend the rest of the day… well, until lunch… in the pool. 🙂 The Beach Club has AWESOME sand floored pools! You can’t beat that!
They also have a pirate ship water slide that the boys went down a couple of times! Autumn and I stuck to a smaller water slide 🙂
For lunch, Brian went out during a rain storm to get us pizza at a to-go place at Disney’s Boardwalk. We then sat out on the patio at the Beach Club and ate it. Yum! Then, the kids went into the gift shop to pick out their snack for the day (you get 1 snack on the Dining Plan) and picked out these HUGE lollipops! Oh dear!
This was my snack, from the to-go counter at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop in our hotel.
And, we saw THIS on our way back to our room. 🙂 (Yes, it had started to rain again.)
The last part of our evening was dinner at the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue at the Wilderness Lodge. Our travel agent suggested this place when I had told her I wanted to do Mickey’s Backyard BBQ and it wasn’t on a night we could do it. I was so glad she suggested the Hoop-Dee-Doo, because we LOVED it. Great entertainment and food and apparently its been around for awhile! Here is Brian and kids before Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue at the bus waiting area.
And, here I am with the kids. Lol, we should have used a selfie stick, I could have shared these two photos in one! Which you may not know this… Disney doesn’t allow you to bring selfie sticks into most of the parks. Magic Kingdom was the only park where I saw people using them, but at the other parks we saw them being taken at the bag check.
The Wilderness Lodge reminded me of a YMCA camp we stayed at in Missouri. Lots of walking trails, horse-riding, wagon rides, a lake, etc.
I would definitely be taking some runs on these trails if we stayed here. How fun it would be to explore by running or biking!
This is the building they have the Hoop-Dee-Doo in.
The kids once we got inside and at our table. There was corn bread and a fresh salad just waiting for us. The butter for the cornbread was sweet and delicious. A feast!
Here is the stage… we didn’t have the BEST seats, but not the worst either… Our table was selected for us already when we signed in. I was just glad we weren’t on the second floor balcony!
I ordered a mason jar sangria and it was delicious! You get unlimited refills, but I only had a glass of this and then a glass of pinot noir…. oh, and lots of water! You can’t beat free drinks. 🙂 The kids got light up straws with their lemonades.
Here is a close up photo of the cornbread and salad. We went through two servings of each! Although I think the kids filled up on both of these before the main meal came… OOPS 🙂 I guess its vacation, so who cares?! Right?
The meats – fried chicken and ribs! I asked our waitress for extra drumsticks and she brought me a whole bowl of them! YUM!
The sides were mashed potatoes, beans and corn. The mashed potatoes were fantastic as in almost as good as my moms. 🙂 The strawberry shortcake was a perfect dessert!
Everyone… adults and kids… enjoyed the evening 🙂
I have two more Disney posts to share. Next Friday will be the Animal Kingdom and a little more of Disney’s Boardwalk and then we will end this series with Hollywood Studios!
