Before Easter, I went on a field trip with Nathan’s 2nd grade class to Purina Farms. We have TWO more field trips this week (one in Autumn’s class and one in Nathan’s class), so I thought I better get my act together and put this blog post about Purina Farms together! Purina Farms is about 40 minutes outside St. Louis, so this field trip went from 9-3:00pm, which is a really long day! Luckily, we had gorgeous weather and they had the pool to the dog show open. Upon arrival to Purina Farms, all of the kids gathered around the Easter bunny and had a class photo done. Nathan has the best smile in this photo, I just love it.
We saw a movie and then went outside to milk the cows. The cows seemed pretty upset when we got there and were just moaning, the poor cows were probably in pain and needed to be milked badly! I can’t imagine waiting until 10:30 a.m. to be milked! It is so funny the things you realize after you’ve been a Mom and had to nurse your own babies… lol. Our class lined up early and at 10:30 a.m. sharp, they started to let the kids milk the cows. Nathan was the first one in his class to go up, such a brave boy!!
After milking the cows, they got to walk around the barn a little more and see the different animals. Nathan got to pet a pig and they had a rabbit, horses, etc.

We got to see the dog show twice, because we had an hour and a half to kill near the end of the field trip. The dog show is always my favorite part of going to Purina.
At the dog show, they had another one of the St. Louis birthday cakes! I have seen three birthday cakes so far and there is 250 of them placed around St. Louis to celebrate 250 years as a city!
My favorite part of the dog show, the dog catching the Frisbee over a pool of water. The water is heated, but they don’t always have the pool open for the show.

We went into the Easter Village part of Purina, where they have hay swings, a tunnel maze and more animals.
Nathan got this piece of hay stuck on his bum and it stayed there a long time. It was cracking me up and I finally had to take a picture of it. I find amusement in the weirdest things, I know.
We went on a hay ride and then we got one last photo of the classmates together under this tree. Everyone was sort of wiped out at this point and we still had a 40 minute ride back to school.
Nathan’s last field trip is at the City Museum and please pray for me, because I do not like heights!!! I am hoping I survive the heights and a bunch of over excited 2nd graders during this field trip… the last time I went I bonked my head on a metal overhang and almost knocked myself out while chasing after Autumn and Brian lost his cell phone as it fell out of his ‘holster’ and fell several stories down and smashed into smithereens upon hitting the ground. He was crawling through a large grated type tunnel when that happened and I don’t care how chicken the 2nd graders call me, I am not stepping foot into one of those things! LOL! Oh, and I told Brian that NO ONE wears their cell phones in holsters anymore, so he now proudly wears his in the pocket of his jeans… 🙂 So, deep BREATH… I can master this City Museum. Right?!!
